Noschese nabs Bridgehampton Motocross win By Jim and Carolyn Simpson BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY, ocr. 3 Michael Noschese used a come-from-behind second-moto win to nab the overali win in the 500cc Amateur class at Bridgehampton Motorsports Park. Moto one started with Noschese grabbing the lead from the start, with Jeff Mitchell and Thomas Lequerque chasing the leader through lap one. Mitchell stayed with Noschese as the pair pulled away from the pack. Noschese shot over the edge of a berm and gave the lead to Mitchell as they apporached the last lap. As Lequerique crossed the white flag he crashed and Noschese regained second. Mitchell scored the moto win. Bob Walton took the early lead in moto two and Paul Wetheimer and Noschese played follow the leader out of the woods. Wertheimer made his move in the back section and took the lead before the end of lap one. Noschese then took over second place, dropping Walton to third. On the final lap, Wertheimer held the lead over Noschese, and Walton reclaimed third. Wertheimer's Kawasaki swapped sideways, and he went down, handing the lead and the overall win to Noschese. MitcheJl took second for the moto and Wertheimer remounted to finish third. Mike Michaels grabbed a handful and led the I25cc Expert class at the beginning of moto ,one, and Jerry Seip and Jason Rivas followed him through the woods. As a warmup for the upcoming GFI Fall Series, the race format was changed to include 35-minute motos, a change which took its toll on some of the over ISO riders. Time would only permit the running of one moto for each class, so the racing was exciting. The Vet Novice class provided some of the best racing of the day, as 19 riders used different strategies to see who could outlast the others. For Matalamaki, it was smoothness and no mistakes that earned him the win. After a see-saw battle with Steve Schwenk, Matalamaki put his YZ in front for good on lap 10 and cruised in for the win. Sehwenk held on for second, while Greg Hesante finished third. The 80cc class combined the beginners, novice and intermediates, with Intermediate class rider Justin Quinn easily scoring the overall. Jess Medley Qutran Ulysses Pollard and Tyler Evans to win the Novice division, while Richard Rodriquez won the Beginner class. Resulls 500 BEG: I. Ray Gammill (Hon); 2. Mark Blackburn (Kaw); 3.
