VOLUME 59 ISSUE 14 APRIL 5, 2022 P57 MYOWNRACE 6 STEFAN BRADL 19TH MOTOGP German Stefan Bradl was a late fill-in for the injured Marc Marquez on the Repsol Honda Team. He started 24th and finished 19th. "I had a good start to the race but made a mistake into turn one, I was a bit too aggressive and then made another mistake a few laps later," Bradl said. "Small mistakes which in the end cost us some posi ons and stopped me staying in the group ahead to fight for something more, closer to Alex probably. This is all part of the process when you jump back into MotoGP, and it was especially tough this weekend with the schedule and one less day." 6 CAMERON BEAUBIER 11TH MOTO2 "I felt like we were making some progress with both my riding and the bike," said American Racing's Cameron Beaubier. "I was going into the race thinking I was go- ing to have a real good ride. I rode as hard as I could but wanted a li le bit more than what I got, which would have been a finish deeper inside the top 10. First lap I got jostled around a li le bit among the car- nage. Struggled with rear grip pre y bad, actually, and was taking some chances on the front brake in those harder braking zones, which gave me a few moments on the front. So, by the end I had to back off a li le bit, which was a bummer, but hey, got some more solid points!" "I'm extremely happy about this weekend in Argentina," Espargaro said. "Overall in Qatar and Indonesia I also felt very strong. I felt competitive, I think we had a solid weekend. Honestly, the race was not easy. I expected it to be a bit easier as this morning I felt very strong. But I think I had a smart race, and finally after this long period with Aprilia we achieved the victory, and we are leading the champi- onship. This is like a dream. We keep our feet on the ground, but I think we truly deserve this!" Third went to Suzuki's Alex Rins, who tried val- iantly to close the gap to Martin in the latter stages of the race but came up half a second short. (Below) Jorge Martin (89) got off to a fast start but gave up the lead and win to Espargaro after the Aprilia rider's repeated pass attempts late in the race.
