ROUND 3 / APRIL 1-3, 2022 TERMAS DE RIO HONDO / ARGENTINA P56 MOTOGP I FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MYOWNRACE 20 FABIO QUARTARARO 8TH MOTOGP It was all about trac on, or the lack of it, for Fabio Quartararo. "The big issue was rear grip and top speed," said the defend- ing champ. "We already knew about the top speed, but the lack of rear grip was surprising. The first few laps were a nightmare—I was losing posi ons. As soon as there was more rubber on the track, it was be er. But overtaking was really difficult. I did my best, but I used my rear re more than expected, and I finished in eighth posi on. It's frustra ng because I didn't make any big mistakes. I was just losing out because of the lack of grip." 44 POL ESPARGARO DNF MOTOGP Pol Espargaro was looking good on points with a few laps le , but the Honda rider threw it away. "The race started quite well, I had a good launch, and I was in the front group," he said. "I was feeling good, but a mistake allowed Rins to get through on me, then I recovered and was pushing to catch him and leading two. We had an up-and-down weekend, but we made a good step in qualifying and then we were pu ng together a good race, it's a race that I should have finished because even fourth was quite good points. Then a few laps later I fell at turn two, I was pushing very hard to improve and it's a shame that we crashed." Aleix Espargaro is also the new championship leader, a first for Aprilia.
