DV's torture track; broken bikes and bodies By Pam Hardin PHOENIX, AZ, DEC. 5 Carlos Serrano, the self-proclaimed "King of Arizona," ran in to some bad Ilick at Deer Valley this weekend. The water seal went out on his RM Suzuki, but he managed to ride half the first moto of the 250's 15 seconds ahead of Scott Stallard. In the 125cc Experts, Drey Dircks showed up, but only to watch. He was finally talked into racing and went to a first moto win, even after his bike had heat seized. Mark "Mouse" Leckman squeaked into the lead, in the first 125cc moto if only for half a lap. Dircks motored past, but his bike's seizure came and put him dead last. Leckman had the lead again, with Jonnie Deremo looking over his shoulder. They tangled a couple laps later and Todd Kessel slipped by for the lead with Steve Patterson following. Patterson took over, and LOP's Jacque'Bryanr got past Kessel. Dircks was weaving his way to the leader; he saw his chance when Patterson poofed a berm. Dircks took the inside and the lead at the same time. Kessel, getting his concentration back and on the move up, slipped off his goggles in time to catch a rock in his eye. Deremo was pushing Bryanr for third when a leaking water seal forced him to take a DNF. Leckman did it one more time' in the second moto, with Bryanr and Dircks slipping by after a few turns. "Mouse" took a spill while Deremo and Patterson watched as Bryanr did such a horrendous swap that he had to be assisted off the track. Kessel and Rick Deremo scrapped with Patterson in third as Deremo's Yamie jetted past Dircks for the lead.
