Bruce Hammer has announced that· Yoshimura R8ID of America will prepare en9.!nes for Team H.mmer's 1983 endurance road racing effort. The team's engines were built by Vance 81 Hines over the past two seasons and Hammer said the change was a result of a "mutual decision" on the part of Team Hammer and Terry Vance. The AFM North will be hosting a four-hour endurance race at Sears Point on Halloween, Oct. 31. Running Superstreet rules, the race will be open to machines from 250cc to Open displacement, with 2-4 riders per team. The Motorcycle Industry Council has published the 1982 Motorcycle Statistical Annual, the sixth edition of this reference booklet, which covers many aspects of the motorcycle industry in the United States. The 48-pag~ document includes estimates of the motorcycle population (by model type, engine displacement, year, and state), retail sales, and the economic value of the retail marketplace. The Nov. 6 Miller High Life Supercross Finals, the last round of this year's Wrangler Supercross Series, will feature a track that goes into the grandstands underneath the scoreboard. The Bel-Ray Challenge Cup competition will be part of the Oct. 31 Superbikers event. The perpetual trophy goes to the highest placing team consisting of a road racer, dirt tracker and motocrosser, and use of Bel-Ray products is not contingent. However, if the winning team does use Bel-Ray products exclusively, Bel- Ray will pop for a $1200 check. The II th annual Florida Winter Nationals Mini Olympics will be presented in the Ocala and Hermosassa areas over the Thanksgiving weekend. The Super Sports event gives minicyclists a chance to compete in short track, TT scrambles, cross country and motocross over a four-day period.
