Chandler had to work around the 250cc Expert pa ck, but did it from th e rear in just two laps and won handily over Joe Knight and Mike Inderbi tzen. Inderbitzen wo n his heat over Knight ' but the order was reversed with only Sco tt Nail bi ting the bullet while running in fou rth . David Caballero took fourth and celebrated newsponsor Valley Cycle Yamaha , with Tony Holdsclaw fifth ove r Chris Paulson, who had a litt le off-cours e excursion on the Knight-framed Billy Scott Yamaha.
