Newman led the first half o f th e Open portion of this mota and Burgett the second half for the win. In the first 250cc Pro mota it was Anderson, Ti m Michlitsch (Ka w), H euinga and Burgett around th e first turn . It was still th a t way a t th e flag. The only passing in th is mo to invo lved Rick Bozarth (Su z) as h e attempted to mak e up for a couple of mistakes and fin ish ed fifth . Anderson led round two a ll the way wh ile Bozarth a nd Michlitsch sorted out second. The battle went to Mich litsch in the latter half. Michlitsch was riding with a m iserablelooking eye which was swollen nearly shut. H e said it only bothered him when h e go t either sweat or d ust in it. There was plenty of both today. Steve J ones and Doug Eich ner literally deserted the 125cc Intermediate class in the first mota as they rode off on the ir Suzu kis to their ow n private battle. It looked like a rerun in the second rnoto until Eichne r goofed and had to settle for fift h, second overall. T om La mkin (H a n) held third with a 3-4 record. AtII4 J.
