Evans; Palmer split CMMC Barona 12 55 By Rod Esc henb urg BARONA OAKS , CA, AU G . 15 The battle for the California Mini Motorcycle Club 125cc class appears to be go in g down to the wire once again in 1982, and once again with the same two riders, Bill y Evans and Mitch Pa lmer. Last year it was Pal mer over Evans, a n d this season it looks to be a reversa l with Evans getting off to a big lead early and now match in g wins wi th Palmer each race da y. T oday, the script wa s the same with Evans going two for two in the Stock 125cc Expert s, and Pal mer scrambling to a tie- brea ker over Keith Cr ai g in the Modifieds. The on ly people th at can' t lose are the H o nda of Ocea nsid e folks, th ey sp onsor both riders! In top Mini action, the big win of the day had to be Team Green ri de r Fran kie Brundage as he went two for two in th e I05cc Mini Open ri der cla ss. Intermedia te Brundage go t two beau tifu l starts, and by the time Expert rider Co ry Fa lter (Honda of O cean side) got himself sorted out, it was too late to overta ke flying Fran kie. In regular Mini Intermediate action, however, it was a different matter as Shaw n Davidson took the Stocks over Michael Dickerson (Ya m ) who , in tu rn, tie-broke Craig Canoy (Suz ) 6-1 to 4-3! • A.M.E.
