At the start of the second moto, Mike Magallanes (Suz) ha d control of the lead by the end of the first lap, just ahead of Palmer and Benedict. Bu t, Magallanes los t control a few laps later, surrendering his lead to Palmer and handing Benedic t second. Recouperating from a slow start, Griewe had managed to occu py th e third spot near rnoto's end. Palmer went on to take the win while Benedict took second. Griewe settled for third just ahead of Crouch. In the 250cc Intermediate class, Hang T en 's Tony Spear (Suz) took command in the first moto then led from start to finish for the win. Spear's nearest competitor was Ocean Press ' Don Bazemore (Suz). During the first couple of laps, Bazemore was running a strong third behind Greg Winters (Suz) but he snuck by Winters and set afte r Spear. Spear had already developed enough in surance . for the win. It was a tight battle in moto two between Spear and Bazemore, and it began as soon as the green flag dropped. Spear stole the holeshot inches ahead of Bazemore but, Bazemore stuffed it by Spear, taking over the lead. Bazemore held on to h is lead throughout the moto, alth ou gh tha t ended after he slid out, dropping back to seventh. In th e end it was Spear who took the win ahead of Duane Mapes (Suz), john Sarrail (Yam) and j im Cogley (Yam) .
