Dear Mr. Kelly: Recen tly I traveled 30 0 m ile s. with th e n o vice rider I am sponsoring, to Marion, Oll, to an AMA rac e. We arrived a t 12:00, by our ti me. an d were un aw a re th a t it w as I : 00 in O hio . Bec au se of th is tim e di fferen ce we were re fused w he n we wan ted to sign in . We exp lained to Mr. Bill Ba usch about our situation , bu t h e sai d h e did n 't ca re if we raced or no t. We ta lked to th e referee who was very b ell iger en t. He said we defin itel y co u ld not race and th a t w as h is final w o rd . Wh en we le f t the race track. tw o and a half h ours lat er, th e race h ad st ill not begun. Earlier in th e year, I travelled to Evan sville, IN , with an other novice rid er to an AMA race. The d ay before th e rac e , w e ph on ed AMA in Ohio t o see if hi s lice n se was th er e and if it w ould be a t th e tra ck the d ay o f th e race . Th ey told u s it would b e, but upon a rriving at th e t rack w e co uld n ot race because they had n o license. The w ay in which th ese race s w ere sponso re d was very un o rganized an d di sgusting, I'm sure, to o the r ra cers be sid es myself. I felt the sp onsors and re ferees o f th ese ra c es w ere very un cooperative and unreas on able.
