H e wa s carried o ff the track an d ta ken to t he ho spital. According to official reports, h e had receiv ed tom ligaments in his left leg. Ra y Crivell o wa s carr ied o ff th e t rack aft er he spun out in the first moto o f the 2 50 Amateur/Expert class. He reinjured his left leg. With all th e spills a nd sp inouts and mech an ical problems, the dropo ut rat e today was about 50 percent. The co urse was muddy ear ly in the d ay, but dried o ut in the afternoo n su n . Bob Bell really knows h ow to get his Yamaha off the lin e b ut can 't m an age to hang o n to that p ole p osition. Joe Meyers (Bu l) p assed h im o n the second inside curve into th e first m oto of t he 250 No vice , first division. Bell ended up pushing his bike off the track . Meyers got him on the first inside cu rve in the second mo to, b ut he d id manage to hang on to a very close second pla ce until Bill Johnson (Yam ) pushed ahead of him just before the ch eckered. Meyers lost his pe rfect score when he spun out on the first curve into th e third mo to . He picked it up in eighth position, and wo rk ed his way up to fo urth b efore the fo urth lap. He was second ove rall with i 1· 14 . Bill J ohnson wo n the third mo to wi th a good 15 0-y ard lead , giving him the first p lace tr ophy wi t h a 3·2-1. Dennis Axelson and his 12 5cc Honda display ed perfect coordinatio n of man and mach in e wh en h e w on all three mo tos of the 100/125 cc Amat eu r class. T he n h e m oved to the 250 class to take th e win in the dash and second in the Main. Ron Denny (Yam) w o n the Trophy Dash and A Main in the 500 class but had some bad luck in the 250 class. He went down in the semi and rode in the C Main. which he won with no trouble. Other double trophy winners we re Rick Hill (Yam ) in the 100 Beginners class and Ken Celorie (Kaw) in th e regu lar 100 class . John Sunseri an d Mike Farrell , both on Triumphs, w ere th e only Open class rid ers to stay in to dav 's races.
