STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY LARRY LAWRENCE
H
igh Point meant many things to many people this year.
The winning Ryan Villopoto recaptured the dominance and momentum in the 450 class he may have
lost - however briefly - after his first defeat of the season a
week earlier. For 250-class victor Marvin Musquin it meant
finally winning a moto – AMA or FIM - again for the first time
in nearly three years. Fans in Mt. Morris will remember the
thrill of seeing a hobbled James Stewart rise again and show
a glimpse of the speed that rocketed him to fame over a decade ago. And finally for Chad Reed Mt. Morris represented
a continuation of a long climb back to competitiveness, as
he tries to shake off an illness that reduced him to a shadow
of his former greatness.
Ryan Villopoto showed his
superiority again at the High
Point National.
