essica Patterson swept both
motos of round two of the
three-event Women's Motocross
Series at High Point Raceway
on Saturday, riding her N-Fab/
TiLUBE Yamaha YZ250F to victory after a great first-moto battle
with Australian Mackenzie Tricker.
Tricker led most of the way, but a
bum knee that started bothering
her before this race, kept popping
out of socket and she was forced
to nurse it home to third, yielding
to Patterson and Japanese sensation Sayaka Kaneshiro on the
Muscle Milk Honda.
The knee was bad enough that
Tricker sat out the second moto
with Patterson winning again
over Kaneshiro. Taylor Higgins
took third in the moto and third
overall on her Shannon Niday
MX Schools/Fly/FMF Honda.
"The track was gnarly," Patterson said. "Compared to how we
started with how it ended was two
separate deals. I was bummed
Courtney [Duncan – the first
round winner from New Zealand]
broke her wrist. At Hangtown I
didn't know what to expect, but
this time I did and I trained really
hard and felt I was ready [to race
with Duncan]. I rode decent today; I probably could have rode
a little bit better. In the first moto
I was a little tight and went off the
track, but I got back to the lead.
In the second moto I rode a little
bit better and ended up winning."
With Hangtown winner Courtney Duncan out with a wrist injury, Kaneshiro jumped to the
points lead. She's up by 14 points

SZOKE WINS CANADIAN OPENER

ordan Szoke picked up his 41st career Canadian National Superbike victory in spectacular
fashion at the opening round of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship at Shannonville Motorsport Park on Sunday.
Szoke took the lead on lap 10 of the 22-lap
race and held off determined challenges from Jodi
Christie and Alex Welsh the rest of the way. Szoke
and his BMW finished .474 of a second ahead of
Christie's Honda CBR1000RR with Welsh just. 607
of a second behind on his Suzuki GSX-R1000.
"When I got past Jodi [Christie] I thought I would
be able to get away but those two guys [Christie
and Welsh] stuck with me," said Szoke, the defending series champion. "I was surprised about
that. It should be an awesome fight for the championship all year."
Jordan Szoke won the opening round of the
Canadian Superbike Series on Sunday.
