VOL. 50 ISSUE 23 JUNE 11, 2013 P41 essica Patterson swept both motos of round two of the three-event Women's Motocross Series at High Point Raceway on Saturday, riding her N-Fab/ TiLUBE Yamaha YZ250F to victory after a great first-moto battle with Australian Mackenzie Tricker. Tricker led most of the way, but a bum knee that started bothering her before this race, kept popping out of socket and she was forced to nurse it home to third, yielding to Patterson and Japanese sensation Sayaka Kaneshiro on the Muscle Milk Honda. The knee was bad enough that Tricker sat out the second moto with Patterson winning again over Kaneshiro. Taylor Higgins took third in the moto and third overall on her Shannon Niday MX Schools/Fly/FMF Honda. "The track was gnarly," Patterson said. "Compared to how we started with how it ended was two separate deals. I was bummed Courtney [Duncan – the first round winner from New Zealand] broke her wrist. At Hangtown I didn't know what to expect, but this time I did and I trained really hard and felt I was ready [to race with Duncan]. I rode decent today; I probably could have rode a little bit better. In the first moto I was a little tight and went off the track, but I got back to the lead. In the second moto I rode a little bit better and ended up winning." With Hangtown winner Courtney Duncan out with a wrist injury, Kaneshiro jumped to the points lead. She's up by 14 points Jessica Patterson won the High Point round of the WMX Series on Saturday. over Patterson and Higgins going into the final leg of the Triple Crown at Southwick.
