AFT SINGLES
In the AFT Singles class, the
young Daniels put on a clinic of
his own. Three races ago, the
highly competitive 450 class had
six different winners with Daniels
being the only one to win more
than one race. Fast forward to
the end of last weekend in Texas
and the Estenson Racing rider
has really staked his claim on the
title with five wins and a 34-point
lead in the championship.
"My main goal this season
was to win the championship,"
Halbert still knocked down some
fast times and was able to build
another gap on the rest of the
pack to earn his second runner-up
finish of the weekend.
Unfortunately for Carver a
hard-charging Mees and Pear-
son relegated him to fifth. The
duo was locked in a heated
battle for the better half of the
race. A determined Mees was
trying everything he could to get
past Pearson, but he was able
to hold the factory rider off to
return to the podium in third.
find the smoothest line
around the holes and stuff. I
felt really good, but it just was
gnarly because the track was
so rough. I just picked my way
through the smooth lines and
tried to be consistent."
This time around, Halbert
wasn't able to run clear in second.
He got caught up behind Happy
Trails Racing's Jeffrey Carver Jr.
but was able to pass him with a
little over nine minutes left on the
clock. That was still too much
time to catch up to Bauman.
Sammy Halbert had a solid weekend
going 2-2. He's currently third in the
championship but still has a way to
go to catch runner-up Jared Mees,
who went 4-4.
