PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUNDS 9-10 / SEPTEMBER 25-26, 2020
DEVIL'S BOWL SPEEDWAY / MESQUITE, TEXAS
P82
man was able to weave his way
around the holes and put on
another clinic, scoring his sixth
win of the season by a healthy
four-second margin.
"I won by less the first
night, but I felt more solid,"
Bauman said. "The track
wasn't so beat up, and we
were able to go up the race-
track a little bit and it had
pretty good grip. Saturday
night, it was just a war zone.
It was kind of who can hang
on the longest, who could
who was holding down that final
podium spot for most of the
race. With two laps to go, the Illi-
nois rider made his move to spoil
the multi-time champion's hopes
of mitigating some of his points
loss. That third-place finish was
extra sweet as it was Pearson's
first race back after parting ways
with the RJ Performance team a
few rounds ago.
On Saturday, when the going
got tough, the defending champ
got going. The track was much
rougher than Friday, but Bau-
Behind him, Coolbeth-Nila
Racing's Sammy Halbert was
running a good pace of his own
and tried to keep Bauman hon-
est. He too got into some lapped
traffic that dropped him back
to 3.445 seconds behind the
champ, but still finished com-
fortably in second for his fourth
podium of the season.
The battle for third broke out
towards the end of the race
when a hard-charging Rob Pear-
son on the Rackley Racing In-
dian FTR750 caught up to Mees
Bauman now has his sights
on a second title after another
race-weekend sweep.
