Mason wa s starting to mak e s ma ll m istakes , in creasing T ieame y's lea d . The track was getting ro ugh , but the two front -runners held thei r speed . Lash an d F o st e r e ac h rec ord ed a DNF . By the white flag . the orde r was Tiea rney , Ma s on , Knesek a n d Be ll , an d t ha t 's th e way the y stayed . Flying ove r the la st big tabl e to p , Tiearn e y whipped it for the s pectators a nd then c o lle cte d his second win. Mason crossed in second, and the t wo made it a p o int to h igh-five on their wa y to the pits . Knesek went 3- 3 fo r th ird o ve ra ll, and Be ll claimed fourth overall for the day. In the 250 cc Pro m o t o , Lash nabbed the holeshot. Tiearney was hot on his ta il in se cond, followe d by Steve Garne tt and F oster. Knes ek a n d Yamaha -mounted J esse Duncan were ba ck in the pa ck but moving up fast. It didn 't take long for Tiearney to take a com ma nding le ad though the whoops. Lash pushed it to the lim it keeping the pace. T ie a rn e y rode consistently a s Lash cha llenged him in the stra ights . Foste r and Ga rn e tt were ba ttl ing for third, and on the s e c o nd la p Foste r took it. The re was no catch ing Tiearney , as he c hecke d out and cross ed the chec kers first, followed by Las h , who put in his best race of the season thus far. Thir d went to Foster, fourth to Knesek and fifth to Garnett. T iea rne y w a n t e d a four -moto sweep , and a s ecorid 250cc moto win woul d d o it , bu t wh en the gate dropp ed , it was Mason , on a b or rowed Hond a , wh o abs c on d ed with the ho les hot , followed by Lash , T ie a rney , F o s t e r , Garnett , Knesek and Duncan . Th e battle in the first th re e laps was a wesome as riders s wa pped p osit ions. Wh en t he du st settled, Mason he ld th e le a d , and Tiearne y a nd La s h fo llow ed closely. Nearly 230 ride rs turned out under blue skies and BO -degree weather to do battle on the long and challenging track. In t he first 125cc Pro moto, th e FMF/Conwa y Motorsports/Thor/ S cotti Michael 's Suzuki -backed Ti earn ey snagged the hol eshot , ahead of Mike Mason , Matt Knes e k, Kenny Bell, Tim Caruso and Kenny Lash . The co nfident Ti e arney held his lines whil e Ma son kn ocked on th e door turn after turn . The two rider s pull ed out a lead that left the rest behind . By midw ay, Mason ha d tried every th ing to pa ss Tieamey, and he finally did on the ba ck se ction. T ie arn e y re passed Ma so n afte r the whoop section. The two riders pu t on a great show on the las t two laps , dicing in the tums. The lon g and lanky Tiearn e y turn ed u p th e thr ott le in th e whoo ps while Mason se emed to ba c k off sli ghtly. Meanwhil e , a battl e was developing for third between Knesek R and Be ll. It was clear by the white flag that Knesek would retain third and Bell would finish fourth . Lash was out of the race with mechani cal pr oblems . Th e win wen t to Tiearney, with Mas on not fa r be hind in second. In m o t o tw o, Mason g ot th e hol eshot, followed by Tie a rn e y, Be ll, Knesek , Lash and Brian Foster.
