Williams and Raiche quickly got around Green e , but Williams ran off th e tra ck a sho rt time later, handing Raiche the le ad. Wil so n, Green e and Steve Clark. Roark was once again th ird , followed by Wilson . Greene and Clark. The first Amateur moto turned into a moto-Iong battle between Hawthome and fellow Suzuk i rider Nathan Kidder, in which Hawthorne u lt imate ly pre vailed . Ed Corn ish d ic ed with Keith Chadwick and Walter Mil es en rou te to his third -place finish . Corn ish abscon ded w ith the ho leshot in moto two and led for a lap before crashi ng his way to the back of the pack . Kidder overcame a fou rth-place start to get the win over Ha wt horne and Chadwick . W it h K idd er and Hawt ho rn e each having a m oto w in, it all came down to the t h i rd an d fi nal moto for the overa ll.
