The 60cc Novice class ha s been o ne of man y ve ry c o m p eti ti ve cla sses at t he H ot Sum mer Night Series this year . Jelderda now had a mammoth lead , and he ju mped th e flnish -Iln e table. gi vi ng a thumbsup as he took th e fl rst -rnot o win . Drei er was second , and Guenther ca me ov er in third. In between m otos, J eld erd a discussed hi s leaping abilit y. "I think I can ma k e the 90 -foot double, but m y dad doesn't want m e to try it ," he said . For the second rnoto , Je lderda bla sted out in the lead , with Dre ier and Guen ther following . Jelde rda mad e his way to the 90·foot er, and he elected to single the huge double. Dreier tried to keep Jelderda in sight but j ust cou ldn't match his pace. Guenther kept a solid pace to maintain thi rd. At the chec kered flag, Jeld erda too k the win, with Dreier in second and Guenther in third . The LA. O ld -Timers paid a visit to Perris Ra cewa y o n th e week en d . In th e A ma teur clas s, Don Meiner put in a pa ir of solid rid es to get th e ove rall victory, and Richard Bealer fo llowed for runn er -up hon ors. In th e Novice cla ss. Earl Adams swept both rnot os to take the overall victory, w ith Barry Simon taking second. Ken Greene came away with two m ota wins in the Masters class for the overa ll win. Results Keith led early abo ard hi s Yam ah a , riding in th e Sp ortsman Expert cl ass . but he took a tum bl e. go t up q uic k ly t o cha se t he t w o r i d e r s w ho h ad passed him, and prom ptl y fell again . After a comedy of miscommunication, Ke ith finally secured a pair of p lier s and shifted the m achine into second . H is next time th rough the p its , Ke ith traded the motorcy cle fo r th e Classic-class Yamaha 125 he rode in th e previous day 's m otocr o ss a t Honda Hills. Alas , another fall-d own claimed the front -brake per ch and he had to ride the rest of th e event with ju st t he rea r brake . St ill , K eith w as f ou rth of si x riders ente r ed i n the Sportsman Expert divisi on , fin ishing a lap down from the other three. Sch oll an d his H usqvarna 400 crossed t he line w ith a time of 1:09 after c o m p l et i n g n in e l ap s o f th e co urse to take th e Sp ortsm an Expert w in .
