By MERLE ACORD WAPELLA, Il, APR. 2 B&J Speed Shop's Kawasaki jockey Alec Rossetto took overall wins in the Over 25 A c: and Over 30 A classes and a second overall in the 250cc A contest - not a bad day's work at US51 Motocross Park. Rossetto checked out and aced the first Over 30 A moto. with Jimmy Randa a tight second until they caught up to the lappers. Track announcer Karl Schroeder said of Rossetto's technique of dealing with lappers, "He threads the needle and pinches the door." .---------------------------------------,0 a: ~ ~ w a: ::l; i:i ~ Q. Nick Moore bulldozed his way into the front of the 250cc Band C pack with the holeshot, despite a serious challenge from last week's winner, Jason Grewe. Both teenagers played the game of seeing who would blink first. but Moore held the inside line and then served notice that the main event belonged to him. Grewe was displaced to second, and then to third as Harlund Johnson entered the fray. Moore, Johnson and Grewe ran one-two-three the entire race. "Last week was my first ride on a 250, and those guys beat me because I rode conservatively," said a pumped-up Moore. "From now on, I'm riding to win like I did tonight." Rick Hocking raised more than a few eyebrows in the Over 40/0ver 50 main event by ....... pushing past everyone for the lead in a form reminiscent of - well, Hocking himself in the 1970s. Ever loyal to the marque, Hocking rode a Bultaco to a wire-to-wire win, treating the large Club Moto crowd to spectacular slides in the turns, followed by long wheelies down the straightaways. On one occasion, Hocking did bobbie slightly, which allowed second-place finisher Rod McCollough to close somewhat, but the race and checkered nag clearly belonged to Hocking. The former "Fremont Flyer" returned later in the evening aboard the same Bultaco to campaign the Pro Am contest and promptly spanked Tony Souza and Brandon Carnahan, two of the hottest Pros in the district. 40+/50+: I. Lake Whitney MX Park Satchwell Bags the Win By STEVE Bol'tI'tAU LAKE WHITNEV, TX, MAR. 23-26 In the first Pro moto of the second round of the DM Sports Women's World MX Series, Stefy Bau grabbed the holeshot, with Tania Satchwell a close second. Round-one winner Jessica Patterson held down third, Angie Keuntjes was fourth, Dee Wood was fifth and Jacqueline Hudson was a strong sixth. Satchwell quickly took the lead from Bau and tried to pull away. Bau kept the pressure on but was soon under pressure herself, from Patterson, who wasted little time in passing Bau and was soon in a position to challenge Satchwell for the lead. By the halfway point of the moto, Patterson had taken the lead, and she remained US51 Motocross Parle Alec Rossetto (254) flew to wins in both the Over 25 A and Over 30 A classes in Wapella, Illinois. 30+ B: 1. "I had a pretty good time battling with Rick IGrebner): said Rossetto. "He had the holeshot, but I managed to get the lead at the bottom of Tower Hill. I think he might have got a little tired in the late laps. I know I was. Jimmy gave me a run in the first moto of the Over 25s," Rossetto said later, "but I think he dropped out in the second one; I never saw him after the first lap. They gave me a run for it all right in the first 250cc A moto. I led till the last lap; then I started making a lot of mistakes and Eslinger passed me. lAshley) Harrier was third." Nate Eslinger wiped out in the first bowl tum of the second 250cc A moto, turning the point over to Ashley Harrier, who extended his lead right down to the wire. "It was getting real bumpy out there and Nate was going way too fast when he hit the turn," said Harrier. Harrier's 3-1 card beat Rossetto's 2-2 finishes for the 250cc A overall. Eslinger, on a Kawasaki from Banzai Racing, carded 1-2 finishes in the 125cc A class for the overall. Eslinger followed Bloomington's Brian Kopp off the line in moto one, but when the field came around for the first lap, Eslinger had the lead. Honda rider Doug Houston was a tight second at the checkers, but he fell on hard times in the second moto and djd not finish. Harrier, on a KTM from RTG Motosports, got a bad start in the first 125cc A moto, and while cutting through the pack, trying to make up lost ground too quickly, he went down a total of three times, ultimately finishing ninth. Moto two was a different story. Ashley took the holeshot and led from wire to wire, taking fourth overall on the day. Harrier picked up another overall in the 14-24 class with a humongous lead in both motos. Josh Decker of Clinton, Illinois, and Kopp rounded out the top three. Sportsland Vamaha's Shea Knuth aced both 85cc Senior motos. "My game plan was to win the first moto and then do it all over again," Knuth said. "I placed third in District 17 last year, and I hope to win it this year." Il Lake Whitney MX Parle Tania Satchwell (2) leads Stefy Bau (211), Jessica Patterson Club Moto Adams Awesome at Club Moto ST By MIKE LAw UVERMORE,CA,MAR.25 "Man, that XR100 was fast!" declared a jubilant yet frustrated Tim Adams. "I didn't think I'd ever get around it. If this keeps up, I may have to get myself a smaller bike." At round two of Club Moto racing action, Atwater's Adams won the Vet C main event in a classic come-from-behind dogfight. Ron Patterson jumped into the lead aboard a very hot XR100 and appeared to have the race sewn up with his smooth, precise, consistent hot laps. Adams, a middle-linebacker-sized rider aboard a big·bore Suzuki, was in second. Lap after lap, Adams thundered down the straightaways to within closing distance of the diminutive XR. only to come up short in the turns on the outside. Adams then altered his line and passed Patterson on the inside with a surprise move on the lap before the white flag, and then rode home to the checkered fiag. Adams returned in the Open C main event, only to crash hard in the second tum, prompt· ing a restart. Eric Turner then jumped into the lead with the second green light, followed closely by Franko Hannah and a pack of riders on equipment ranging from CCMs to Hondas. Turner led for several laps on the slippery tracK and then dropped back to second, where he would ultimately finish. While Hannah and Turner pulled away from the field, John larson and Robert Morris battled for third. Larson clearly had the comer speed, but Morris had the horsepower. Comer speed prevailed, however, and Larson settled in behind Hannah and Turner in the winner's circle. Results 50 JR: I. Bloke Copelond: 2. Cody Joty; 3. Zachary Foulkner: 4. Joshuo Thomas; 5. While running fourth, Keuntjes took a terrible spill in the whoop section but got up and managed to save some points, finishing in seventh. Hudson and Wood putting on a great three-lap battle, which Hudson won with a sweet blockpass in the woods section, and she finished fourth in the moto. In moto two, Patterson took the holeshot honors, with Hudson second, Satchwell third and Bau fourth. Satchwell quickly got around Hudson and was soon hounding Patterson for the lead. An epic battle ensued for more than a lap and a half, and it ended when Satchwell forced Patterson into making a mistake that led to a minor crash. Satchwell took the lead on lap two and never looked back. Keuntjes wasted little time in passing Bau, Hudson and the fallen Patterson, and then worked her way into second by the end of the second lap. Meanwhile, Bau was pressuring Hudson, who suffered the same fate as Patterson and washed out in a deep· rutted corner, allowing both Bau and Wood to slip by. Bau held on to finish in third place. Patterson regained her composure after her crash and passed Hudson and Wood to finish fourth, but the crash would end her hopes for a perfect four-moto sweep. Results PRO: I. Tania SolchweU; 2.
