A huge turnout of riders from all over the Midwest converged on the Summit County Fairgrounds to battle it out for the series championships that would be awarded at the end of the weekend of racing. Collier took four out of the six Pro motes over the weekend and placed second and third in the other motos, and he also won the Freestyle contest on Saturday night, taking home a big chunk of the Pro purse for his efforts. The young Kawasaki speedster took two Pro main wins and was always a threat to win at any time. Kelley ran at the front of the pack and was consistently aggressive on the tight indoor circuit. Other top Pro riders putting in good performances were Husky man Ryan Lutz. Kawasaki jockey Gaylon Dickson, and Yamahamounted Karl Scott. Lutz looked very fluid on his new Husqvarna ride and put in some inspiring rides, and Scott is quickly regaining his fonn. One of the best races was the Saturday night 125cc A Pro main. Kelley took the holeshot, with Collier and Shaun Kuchler.right on his fender. Kelley and Collier pulled off into their own war for the first four laps: with Collier trying everywhere to get around the young Kelley. Back in the pack, Dickson and Scott were on the move, with Bo Bowman stuck in their shadow as the trio sliced through the pack and worked their way toward the front. Collier used a deep inside pass coming into the finish-line rhythm section, which sent Kelley off the track and into the wall, ending his moto. Kuchler ran in second, but the freighttraining trio put him back in fifth at the end of the mota. Dickson took second after a good ride through the pack, with Scott securing third and Bowman fourth.
