Tamr8 ished fourth after a late pass on Locke, which was good enough for third place on the da y. Locke brought his VZ across in fifth for fifth overall. In the 125cc Beginner class, Michael Falls - who retired his 80cc mount at the end of last season - has been a top-five contender each weekend. Falls started moto one in third, behind holeshot artist Adam Anderson and David Moskat. Falls put his Motorcycle Accessories Shop/GF Racing VZ up front and never looked back, cruising to the win. Moskat put together a strong second-place finish, with Anderson coming across third. Michael Beaver charged hard from his sixth-place start to finish fourth, with Michael Adams finishing fifth after his 10th-place start. Moto two began much the same way, with Anderson executing a perfect holeshot, chased by Falls, Beaver, Moskat and the pack. Anderson rode mistake-free and maintained his lead over Falls all the way to the checkers. Behind the front-runners, a battle was raging between Beaver, Moskat and Adams. Moskat made his move around Beaver on lap three, racing hard to the fmish. Falls' second-place finish was good for the overall win. Anderson scored second overall, Moskat received third overall, Beaver was fourth, and Adams was fifth. In the Pro class, Ryan Mortensen scored both moto wins, which gave him the cash and place points to aid in his efforts to retain his Arizona State Championship status. Bryan Allen, aboard his Apache/White Brothers/Piper Performance RM, scored his first win in 250cc Intermediate action. He scored an impressive moto win in the first moto and followed that with a second behind 1999 Arizona State champ Nick Beaver to tally up the points for the overall. The young man bas been steadily improving each weekend, and now he is a contender at any race at which he shows up, proving that good things come to those who work for it. FEB. 4 Adam Metzler, riding his recently acquired Honda CR80, scored a pair of 80cc wins to join Yamaha-mounted Bill Graves, the winner of the Over 40 Amateur and Over 30 Junior classes, and Cameron McGillivray as the evening's top performers during CMC-sanctioned arenacross action at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. The Kawasaki-mounted McGillivray, who made the trek with his family from Bend, Oregon, scored overall wins in the 60cc Beginner and 60cc Open classes, both coming with 1-1 performances from the 8-year-old best known for his outdoor prowess. Trailing the Sweeney's Kawasaki~backed McGillivray to the finish in the 60cc Open class were brothers Jordan and Baron Hollowell, who traded runner-up finishes to net second and third overall, respectively. Graves, who has been known for the occasional three-class rampage, posted his first win of the evening in the Over 30 Junior class, in which he topped Kawasaki jockey Curtis Paulson and KTM rider Jim Harris. Graves then came back three races later to score another sweep in the Over 40 Amateur class. Husqvama-mounted Bill Farrell. who in moto one finished third to Graves and Harris, was Graves' closest foe in mota two, netting second and second overall, ahead of Jeff Hausmann. Metzler's first overall win came in 80cc action. The Hillsboro Motorcycles-backed Metzler's extended seat time this past two weeks has given the 12-year-old valuable experience with his new mount 1 and on this particular evening, Metzler showed the competition his rear wheel in both motos. leading Honda riders Ryan Huege and Alex Hill to the line for the 80cc (12-13) win. Huege picked up the 80cc (14-16) win. Metzler's toughest test, though, would come in the Supermini class, although Metzler got some breathing room when his seasonlong rival. Huege, fell while running up front with Metzler in both motos. This aided Metzler in his 1- J sweep in the class to lead Will Brown (2-3), Hill (5-2), Brock Chappelle (4-4) and Huege (3-6). Honda rider Mike Storm, the winningest rider in 125cc Pro-class action this season. continued his streak with a two-moto romp ahead of a trio of fast Intermediate riders. Ryan Metzler was the recipient of the Intermediate-class overall win by virtue of his secondmoto Victory ahead of moto-one winner Keith Kadell and Matt Williams, who was third overall with 3-3 placings. Austin Gettel came close to a two-class win tally, winning three out of four motos in the 125cc and Before The Hill Junior classes, although the Taylor Honda/Kawasaki-backed rider failed to connect on the second and most important moto - the second Before The Hill moto - which would have capped off his sweep. He was relegated to second overall by the rider he topped for the 125cc win, Bryan Thibedeau. P/W (4·6): I. TaySor Feller (Cob); 2. Vernon Foster (KTI'\). P/W (7-8): 1. Brent Cordie (Hus); 2. PELLETT MARION, OH, JAN. 2J-23 While more than 400 other racers braved the cold Mid-Ohio winter weather at Marion Coli· seum, Tommy "Too Cool" Collier warmed up to a big chunk of the purse money, as he won both Pro classes at the Friday night event of the Marion Indoor Motocross Championship Series. While Collier would place on the podium in the 125cc classes and win a 250cc event again over the long weekend of racing, Friday night belonged to Collier. While Collier had a fairly easy time in the 125cc class afler fighting off the likes of Ryan Lutz and John Davis, in the 250cc Pro class, Collier faced a moto-Iong battle for the lead with the very talented Chuck Reed of Blanchester, Ohio. Collier eventually prevailed, raking the win with Reed in tow and Chuck Nicholson in third. Kawasaki-mounted Gavin Gracyk had an absolutely incredible three-day weekend at Marion. In the six motos he entered. he won five of them and took second in other one. Pickering's Chris Whitcrafl battled Gracyk in all six races. The Ff,S Suzuki-mounted fast kid managed to beat Gracyk in one of the Schoolboy motos, while Gracyk won all the rest of their 125cc B and Schoolboy contests. Prospect's Zach Ames continued his consistency in the 65cc class, winning all his races aboard his KTM SX65. Fremont, Ohio's John Davis had it going on in Saturday night's event. He took both Pro wins in the 125cc and 250cc classes, besting Collier in the 125s and Michigan's Thomas Barron in the 250s. Cody Longwell was easily the fastest C rider over the three days; he won all his 125cc races aboard his Yamaha YZ, and the racer from Sardis, Ohio, was the class of the class. Results F""'"r 65: I.
