Ohio's Chuck Reed comes on strong every year at Marion; the Suzukimounted racer just seems to have what it takes to win at these tight indoor tracks. Over a weekend of racing in the Marion Indoor Motocross Championship Series, Reed took the money in three out of four Pro classes, and he placed second in the fourth. Promoter Tab Thompson laid out an excit· ing course inside the small confines of the Marion Coliseum, and upwards of 400 racers from the Buckeye State, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana and even Canada made the trek down to the Marion County Fairgrounds for some serious indoor motocross. While it was snowy and brisk outside, the moto wars were being waged with a hot ferocity inside the concrete palace from noon to night. During Saturday's Pro·class racing, north· ern Ohio's Vince Karnow offered some com· petition to southern Ohio's Reed. Karnow but contingency pays the bills. fought every lap, his Suzuki matching the moves of Reed's yellow machine at every cor- ner. While Reed had the speed on the 125s, Karnow took the victory on the 250s; this was the only moto that Reed would lose on the weekend, however.
