course was all fresh-cut trail on absolutely virgin terrain, it was anyone's guess. Just as the AA riders pushed their trusty steeds to the line, a light rain began to fall, totally obliterating any hopes of the course drying out. The cannon turned out to be a glorified starting pistol, and those who didn't jump out of their socks were treated to a demonstration of "How to Nail the Holeshot," by Rod Stuckey. The riders made an immediate left, with Allen Gravitt and Josh McLevy battling bar to bar as they dashed across the main road running through the plantation. As riders threaded their way into the woods, Stuckey was in control. Gravitt assumed second, with McLevy in Third. Doug Masencup, Michael Grizzle and Gary Hendrix were duking it out for fourth. In the Senior A class, it looked like anyone's race. Big hitters Terry Hughes, Steve Moore and Daniel Monsrud made their way to the front after mediocre starts. The 250cc B race was wide open, with Jonathan Phillips pulling "the shot," followed by Steward Baylor, Toby Boyd and Jonathan's' brother, Nathan Phillips. By the end of the first lap, Stuckey was in first, with KTM's Gravitt in second and McLevy kicking down his back door for third. Hughes was followed by Moore and Monsrud. The 250cc B race had a shake-up, as Jonathan Phillips succumbed to a flat tire, allowing Baylor to shoot by and assume first. Nate Phillips had second, and Bobby Barefield was in third, but the one to watch was Keith .Bowman, who had experienced a bad start but quickly made mincemeat of his competitors as he ripped through the pack toward the front. On the second lap, McLevy passed Gravitt for second. Stuckey remained in first. Masencup assumed fourth. But by this time, McLevy was starting to hit his stride, and during the third lap he moved past Stuckey to take first. Although it appeared McLevy was pulling away, Stuckey stayed just in sight. At the end of the third lap, McLevy pulled in for fuel, and while waiting for his tank to fill, he helplessly watched as the number-four Kawasaki blazed by, taking first once more. When his tank was full, McLevy took off in a hellbent frenzy to try to regain his position from the Motosports rider, but to no avail. By this time, Stuckey was approaching warp speed, especially after seeing McLevy sitting by the trail in the pits. In the meantime, in the woods, Gravitt and Masencup took over the third and fourth position. Meanwhile, the Senior A battle was really starting to play out around the third lap, as Moore began to pressure Hughes for the lead. Moore finally motored by Hughes to Presents the 8th Annual Ml4 SANCTIONED Husqvarna $ RACE TECH SUZUKI WI6ECD OVERNIGHT CAMPING I Pre-Entry Opens Jan_ 16, 2000 ~ $10.
