CALHOUN, GA, JULY 23
N
ot even a heat W8/e could stop 200 riders from making round
16 of the Maxxis Moto madness series at Calhoun Supercross. The track crew had everything well in hand by the end of
the riders' meeting. Let's get a cool seat for some hot racing!
In the 50cc (4-6) class, Cobra tamer Brendan Griffith took
the final-moto win to capture the overall victory. KTM-mounted
Bryston lvey took second overall after a first-moto win. Tristan
Smith, also KTM-mounted, secured the final podium spot with a
last-moto effort.
The 50cc (7-8) contest saw another Cobra rider, Tayler
Davidson, take the win. Nathaniel lewis used his KTM to get
the second podium position with a good effort in the final moto.
KTM pilot lac Totsch took third overall with a good effort.
The largest class of the evening was the 65cc (7-9) class,
with an almost full gate. Colton Ford, on his fast KTM, took the
overall with ease. David Nizzari, another KTM rider, took
second overall with a good final·moto effort. David "Real Deal"
Riehl put his Kawasaki on the podium with a strong final mota.
The 80cc Beginner class was another large one. Hondamounted Matt Eatmon took the victory with a final-mota win.
Cody Kirkland took his Kawasaki to the second podium step
with a good ride. Suzuki man Dylan Kirkland took the final
podium step with a steady ride.
The Women were on the gas, and it was Kawasaki jockey
Amanda Clark who ruled the roost and the competition with
two mota wins. Rachel Bozeman used her KTM to make it to
the second podium spot. Yamaha-mounted Kristin Mullaney did
the deal for third overall.
The Youth class was the property of Jeremy Pendley, on his
Yamaha of Doraville YZ. Matthew Timm used his Suzuki to
climb the podium to the second spot. Yamaha rider Steven
Brantley was good for the final podium step.
The money-paying classes are getting larger and faster as the
season moves along. Puerto Rico's Gino Aponte put his Yamaha
atop the I25cc A podium. Derrick Fisher, back from injury, took
second overall after a first-mota slip. Brae Hinckley, after
moving recently to the Pro class, earned third overall with a
strong ride on his Suzuki.
1he 2SOcc A class was all Fisher's, as he won both motos on h~
Medallist Honda 4S0. Aponte used his fast Yamaha to earn second
overall with a good ride. Kyle "Collarbone" Odum used h~ Honda
to take the final podium position in his first ride back after injury.
As the season hits its midpoint, the racing is only getting
better as the riders' points increase. It's always great to be able to
look forward to a strong series finish and the awards ceremony.
