AMA District 36 Dirt Track Round 20: Lad; Cycle Bowl Nothing Slow About Joel By KAREN GOULD LODI, CA, JUNE 18 S tockton Motorcycle Club orchestrated the 20th round of the 2005 AMA District 36 schedule at Lodi Cycle Bowl on the wellgroomed, blue-groove oval track. With 16 rounds left in this racing season, the points races are beginning to heat up for the upcoming championships. This night's racing included more than 60 riders in 22 main events. Out of courtesy for the California Cup Series, there were no Open A or Pro-Am events. Joseph Hernandez was the star of this week's racing, winning the Open Money event aboard a newly built, Mayberry Builders· sponsored Rotax. Hernandez executed an exceptional pass around Mark Key in the heat race and then led the main event from start to finish. Kyle Anselmi took the second spot. Hernandez will surely be another of the "known" racers from District 36; he's coming into his own nicely as a smooth and talented rider. He is looking forward to competing in the Amateur Nationals in Springfield next month. Little Robbie Nichols took first in both the 50cc C and 50cc Senior C events. Adam Hernandez finished first in the 60cc C class, followed by Travis West and John Vanderlaan. Dominic Colindres got the holeshot in the 80cc A event, with Michael Martin riding hard, trying to pass him. Martin worked the track for several laps before getting past Colindres in both the heat race and the mjlin event. Travis West finished the 80cc C class first. Richard Colindres rode to a victory in the 150cc Sportsman event, while Dominic finished the 100cc Modified A Youth class in the front spot. Riddle Racing's team showed up this week, with three riders competing in several events. Mike Vargas, known as "Mr. Fidget," finished the Vintage B event in the first position, while Greg Riddle finished the Vintage A event first. ers made it through Sign-up. Join me at the top of the scoring tower so we don't miss anything. (Press passes rule!) The sOcc Shaft class had a great turnout. RESULTS '" jeff Spohr took second behind Vargas, while Donnie Darrah and Dennis Kritzer finished behind Riddle. Kritzer was back on the track to finish the Vintage Over 50 event in front of Tom Knight and Dennis King. Paul Toms took the Vintage C win, and Fuzzy Beaching rode his vintage twin to a Vintage Twin win. While Shawn Raggio was busy in Placerville taking a fourth place in the California Cup race, his son Kyle Raggio was taking the second spot, behind Brittani West, in the Pee Wee Shaft C event at Lodi. Robert McDonnell makes winning look easy. He rode in front from pole to pole in the Vet Over 40 A class. Meanwhile, Robert Lanoy and William Dees finished at the front of the Vet Over 40 Band C classes, respectively. Ronald Knight got the jump off the line to lead jon Eichelbaugh and the other four Vet Over 30 riders to the checkers. P!W SHAFT: I. Brittani West: 2. Kyle Raggio. 50 C: I. Robbie Nichols; 2.
