Ultimate Motocross Championship Series Round 3; Broome-Tioga Sports Center Clark Utmost at Ultimate By JIM P. SANDERSON BINGHAMTON, NY, MAY 8 M 5R, Pro Taper, RRP and Answer Racing have teamed up to sponsor a brandspanking-new motocross series consisting of 16 rounds for 2005, called the Ultimate Motocross Championship. It is one of the biggest series to hit the East Coast in years, and it features more than $20,000 in cash and prizes. This new series is being run in conjunction with the AMA District 6 Championship Series. Eight of the best tracks in the upper Northeast will each host two rounds, and riders who participate In the District 6 Series could also win the Ultimate Motocross Championship Series by riding the same races. The riders in the Vet A and B as well as the 125cc and 250cc A and B classes received and extra treat when they were informed at the riders' meeting on Sunday morning that they would be running the full National track layout for the day, as opposed to the usual abbreviated National track layout featured at the majority of the Amateur races on the Broome-Tioga schedule. Casey Clark had a great day at round three. Clark topped both the 125cc and 2S0cc A podiums. In the 125cc class, Clark and Mitch Dougherty battled in both motos. Clark led the pack out of the first turn in the first I25cc A moto. Trailing were Dougherty, Alex 5igismondi, Mike Dougherty and RRP's jeremy Cook. When the leading riders descended the National hill on lap one, Clark still had the lead, with Mitch second. Clark and Mitch were clearly pulling away from the rest of the field. Mike, Cook and 5igismondi were third through fifth. Clark had a minor bobble at the base of the hill on lap two, but it was just enough for Dougherty to squeak by on the inside to claim the lead. Mike and Cook continued to battle for third. Aaron Dieter got by Sigismondi, taking fifth. Mitch got the first-moto win by a measly two seconds over Clark. Cook, Mike and Dieter rounded out the top fIVe. Mitch and Cook led the start of the final I25cc A mOlO, but Clark was able to get by both riders on the huge downhill ski jump to take the point shortly after the start. Dieter and Sigismondi were fourth and fifth. Clark had a two-second advantage on Dougherty on lap two. The top five quickly spread out, and the rest of the mo~o was a snoozer. Clark got the win with a two-second gap on Dougherty. Cook rounded out the podium with a consistent 3-3 tally Dieter and Sigismondi rounded out the top fIVe. (Stroupe went on to capture first place in the 125cc Schoolboy class.) Natasha Harrison from Blountville, Tennessee, came away with a first overall on her new Suzuki sponsored by her mechanic and father, along with jim's Motorcycles Sales and Motoplanet. Out of a field of nine riders, Harrison's holeshot in both motos proves that she is getting the feel for the power bands on the new Suzuki. She is clearly the one to beat in the remaining Mega Series' Woman's class contests.
