the 200cc class. A recovering Serge Figliuzzi
was on the move, eventually catching Nick
Smith and beating him to the line in a photo

was loud and on its feet as the gate dropped.
Suzuki jockey David Genel shot to the front
like he was on fire! Gettel was looking to repeat
his 12Sec Pro performance from Friday night's
event, which he had won. Kawasaki Team Green
rider Shawn Clark was giving Oettel pressure
from all angles, trying to get past. Suzuki riders
Jim Chester and defending champion Brian
Stone were dose to the leaders, waging a war of
their own. At the halfway point, the running
order was the same, with Genel out in front of
the freight train. On lap 10, Clark was putting
the pressure on hard. and Oertel went down.
Clark moved into the lead; Oettel remounted,
but not before the battling Chester and Stone
had shot past. While Clark was fast and smooth
out front, Stone put the move on Chester and
made the pass for second. When the checkered
flag flew, the running order remained the same,
with Clark first. Stone second and Chester third.
"1 want to thank the good Lord Jesus
Christ," Clark said on the podium, "because
that is why we are all here."

ope Hull, Alabama's Tom Halliburton came
to Dixie MX's season opener in search of
an age-group win. and he hit pay dirt with the
overall victory in the combined Over 3010ver
40 contest. The Adams Motorsports-assisted
rider piloted his RM250 to wins in both motos.
Chuck Branson doubled his day-old 200S
CRF4S0 past Carl Drummond on lap one of the
first Over 30/0ver 40 moto. Halliburton also
went past Drummond's YZ450 early on, and
then railed a lBO-degree turn to get past
Branson and post a IO-second win. Drummond
picked up his pace and held 0(( a closing Don
Bush for third. Pike Road, Alabama's Joe Wilson
rounded out the top five.
Halliburton rounded the first tum in last place
in race two, whUe Branson made a break for the
win. Halliburton made two passes on lap one but
wasn't able to get around Drummond in a tight left
for second place until the halfway point. Branson,
riding fast and smooth, yielded to Halliburton at
the stlrt of the final lap. Bush caught Drummond in
the final turn; the pair made contact, and Bush
squeezed out third by half a wheel.
Carson Chumley and Clayton Beasock
swapped wins in the eight-rider combined Pee
Wee class. Beasock, hampered by a roughrunning Husky, led moto one before being passed
by Chumley. Even with a raspy engine, Beasock
pulled a big holeshot, over Chumley'S KTM, in
moto two. The duo encountered lapped traffic
on lap three. Chumley closed in, but it wasn't
enough; Beasock claimed a two-second win.
yz 12S-mounted jody Cook ruled the 12Scc
BIC contest with double moto wins. Jeremy
Richard followed him in both times. Dixie
newcomer Justin Helfinstine pushed his yz 125
H
past Ed Antonio for third, first C rider, with just
three turns to go in moto one. In moto two,
Helfinstine crashed heavily over a triple and
scored a DNF. The spill put Antonio back in the
driver's seat for the overall C win; his 2-2 tally
topped Shane Cox's 4~ I score.
Mike Branson made several passes in the
65cc Beginner class to secure the win. In race
one, he gated fourth and finished a close second
to fellow Suzuki rider Dustin Jones. Nick
Brockman brought his to< in third. Branson
overcame Jones' holeshot stan in race two and
built a small cushion that he would keep to the
finish. Shaun Worley (5-3) won a race-long
battle for third over three riders, but Brockman
(3-4) claimed third overall.
Justin Tyre was the only rider to line up on
the inside of the doghouse in the first 125cc
D/2S0cc D mota. He grabbed the holeshot on
his KX 125 and rode to a second-place finish,
behind Yamaha pilot Dylan Lofty. Shane Still was
third on his CR.
Moto two saw Mike Rivers pull a strong
holeshot over Tyre, Lofty, Still and Kelly
Brinkman. Lofty moved to second and then put
an outside pass on Rivers for the win. Tyre just
missed catching Rivers, while a charging
Brinkman placed fourth.
