By JUSTIN WHARTON WOODLAND, WA, FEB. 5 oodland MX Park started out the month of February well, hosting both a healthy crowd and some healthy W competition. The competition was so fierce, in fact, that there was only one double class winner of the day: Kevin Urquhart, in the 12Scc Intermediate and Before The Hill classes. The 65cc ranks hosted some of the top local racers, including Brad Frace, the Haas brothers. Tanner Berry, Mason Wharton, Matthew Shirley and Corey Hood. Taking the win in the 65cc (5-8) class was none other than pink· haired speedster Nathan Haas, who won both motos going away. Second went to Chance Blackburn (2-2), third to Cody Smith (3-3), fourth [0 A.J. Scott (4-4), and the last 6Scc (S-B) rider, Tyrus Ancheta (DNF-DNF), finished fifth. Dominating the 65cc (9-1 I) class was local phenom Frace. While Frace had a little trouble with the fast-starting Berry early on, he was able to pull away in both motos to take the overall win with a I-I tally. Berry (2-2) had to settle for second, and Shirley (3-4) rounded out the podium in third. J.D. Baker (5-3) took fourth, and Ben Haas (4-6) finished fifth. Without Frace to deal with, Berry was looking to dominate the 65cc Open class. This time though, Nathan was on fire, and the two battled fiercely in both motos. Berry ended up getting the nod with his 2-1 moto finishes, while Haas (1-2) ended up second. After spending most of his time in the 65cc (9-1 I) class on the ground, Wharton stayed upright and steady to take third in the Open class on a 3-4 score. Corey Hood (6-3) took fourth, and after a long injury-related break from racing, Jason Doane was back at it, and took fifth overall with 4·5 finishes.
