dominated the 65cc (9-1 I) and 65cc Open classes. He also won the first mota of the 85ec Junior class, but a bike failure in the second moto gave him a DNF and cheated him out of a three-class decimation. The largest class of the day, the 125cc Beginners, showcased a lot of action. Cameron West, Justin West and Nicholas De La Grange were in a constant battle for the lead. In the end, it was Cameron (1-2) with the win. The KTM-mounted De La Grange (3-1) took second, and Justin (2-3) took third. Danny Washburn (5-5) took fourth, and Steven Jacobs (4-6) finished fifth. The 12Scc Junior class showcased up-andcoming racer Wren Fuller. The Honda rider seemed untouchable as he won both motas to take the overall win. Although 250cc Juniorclass winner Ryan Skinner did his best to hang with Fuller in both motos, he was just a fraction slower each lap and had to settle for second with a 2-2 tally. 5ean Zuclich (3-3) took third, Vince Crowell (4-4) took fourth, and Mike Passarge (7-5) rounded out the top five. Winning the Over 30 Junior class was Rocky Gilmore (I-I). Second went to Women's-c1ass winner Traci Fleming, who had some intense battles with some guys to get to that spot. but she stuck it out for a 2-2 tally. Tim Shirley seemed to be Fleming's closest competition, but he fell off late in the race and ended up third with 5-3 finishes. Fourth place went to Clark Moore (4-4), and Stuart Bailey (3-5) took fifth. RESULTS 50 (4-6): I. Tanner Morris (Cob); 2. Bafley Haines (KTM); 3. Parker Browning (KTM); 4. Chance Brisendine (KTM); 5. GRAGG PRAIRIE CITY, CA, JAN. 22 M ore than 200 eager little riders were anxious to get the season going, as the last race had been canceled due to treacherous weather and poor track conditions. A whole new lineup of Youth racers was ready to go on this cold, foggy day. There were also some old faces in new classes, and a few familiar faces were missing, as some of the fastest Youth riders had chosen to try their skills against the adults. For the 27th year, the Poika Dots Motorcycle Club put on a great race, with fast signup lines, well-marked courses and friendly assistance. In his first race as an A rider, Michael Bettencourt took the holeshot off the A 80cc line, followed by Steven Godman (31so a new A rider) and Colton Hakker. They headed off on the 6-mile course, which included motocross areas, some technical areas, a supermotard section on a paved road, and lots of standing water, slippery rocks and mud. Number-one plate holder Jonathan Davis was the leader of lap one, just a bikelength ahead of Hakker, who in turn was a bikelength ahead of fast girl Kacy Martinez. Hakker and Davis swapped pOSitions back and forth the whole race, with Davis leading laps one, three and four, while Hakker led laps two, five and six - and emerged the winner. Martinez comfortably held the third-place position the entire race, riding hard and consistent. "I like leaving on the front row," Martinez noted. "You don't get roosted as much. But actually I got a bad start, so I did get roosted." The B 80cc line had Eric Habenicht out front, followed by Tanner Tremaine and Ryan Habenicht. Kristen Pinto nabbed the holeshot in the Girls B class. In her first race back after an injury in November, Brooke Hodges held the lead for lap one. "I took it easy," Hodges said. "I had to see how my shoulder felt." Pinto followed her. On lap two, Kasie Creson moved into the lead. "I got lost on the first lap," admitted Creson, who then held the lead until the finish, followed by Hodges and Pinto. Almost SO girls raced on Saturday. The 50cc class is always fun to watch. These little guys can go! Racing into the first corner first was fast guy Tucker Larrieu, followed by Dylan Wold and Kristopher Eddie. After leading for two laps, Larrieu had to pull out on lap three due to mechanical problems, but he came back later on a different bike to take fifth place in the 65cc B class. Topping the 50cc A podium was Eddie (who also placed second in the 65cc C class), the second overall finisher was Wold, and third overall went to Anthony Franks. RESULTS A SO: I. Jordan Fish: 2. Midwest Supercross Swiftel Center Whoops, Hodges Did It Againl By BRAD LETCHER BROOKINGS, SD, JAN. 22 A s the second night of Peterson Racing-pro/""\moted Midwest Supercross was winding down, it became clear that the one word that best described the night was whoops. The killer whoop section brought even the most talented riders to their knees. Whether it was a firsttime racer or a seasoned veteran, the whoops continually scrambled the standings by claiming victims in nearly every race.
