I f Wild West Arena Yarrow Perfect at Wild West By RYAN EVANS WINCHESTER, CA, OCT. 9 ryan Yarrow to pped a ll a perfect night with B a viaory in the Scratch main event at Wild West Arena in Winchester. Califo rn ia. Yarrow 's perfect score afforded him the op portunity to select his gate first. Afte r so me deliberation . he se lected the po le. Ch ris Kerr, making his first appearance at the track, cho se gate two. Nate Perkins picked gate three, and that left Denny Scopellite with the o utside. Yarrow was firs t to leave the line at t he start, and Perkins fo llowed him into turn one. Yarrow was on the precious inside groove and im m e d ia t e ly put so me d istan c e b e t w e e n himse lf and the res t of the field. Perkins drifted w ide co mi ng out o f tu rn two, w hich allowed Kerr to blast up t he inside for se cond . Kerr w e n t after Yarrow, but t he fo rmer Yout h N at iona l Champion wa s lo ng go ne . Yarrow cruised t o his first Wild West Scratch mai ne vent victory, w it h Kerr coming in second, Perk ins third. and Scopellite fourt h. The firs t round o f q ual ifying he at s was d omi nated by the visitors from Northe rn California, as Y arrow was victorious in the first race and Kerr was the winner of the second. Perk ins held off Scopellite to tak e a victo ry in the first race of the second round, and Yarrow defeated Kerr in their sho wdown in the other race . Yarrow bega n the final round by keepi ng his perfect score intact , and Kerr de feated Buck Blair to win th e final qualifying heat. Blair was victorious in the Scratch Consolation after a final-comer pass on Steve Murray left the latte r in a heap in turn three; Rich Bro ck was second, jo n St as iefski finish ed third, and Murray was credited with fourth. Five riders line d up fo r t he Divisio n Tw o main even t , and Bria n Star r beat his fo u r competitors to turn on e . Starr held the lead on the back straight , while Dale Facchini emerged fro m the pack in seco nd but with his hopes set on th e lead . Starr had other ideas. though. and he put together four solid laps to take home the trophy. Facc hini was second , Kim Steve ns finished th ird , Mar k Bald w in was fou rth , a nd Rohn Ze llner finishe d fifth. Th e Divisio n Three main even t turned ou t to be a ma tc h race that saw Dam o n Ba rry defeat jim lavende r to ge t the win . jaso n Ramirez was victorio us in the Youth main event after first starting fro m the 40-ya rd line and t hen be ing penalized 20 more ya rds afte r causing a restart. Austin Navratil finished second. and Dylan Black was third . Braydan Galvin made a brilliant pass to grab the victo ry in the Pee Wee main event.
