WI • ftlbuquerque. nm AND JUSTIN ENOS RANCHO CORDOVA, CA, SEPT. 12 D en o, Nevada 's Wes Peeb les took on the masses at round I'two of the 2004 GFI Fall Series and put in a dominant perfor mance that saw him take the overall win in th e 12Scc Inte rme diate class. Among the 33-rider field. Peeb les loo ked confident on the AMP National Track as he turned a pair of grea t starts into a pair of uncont ested wins. In the first rnoto , Aaron Harvey tucked in behind Peebles off the start, along w ith Curtis Sweezey, Justin Posey and Jacob Sanchez . However, Pee bles, who had chalked up extremely fast lap times during Saturday pract ice, had no inte nt ions of gett ing involved in any close racing: the Suzuki pilot immed iate ly put some distance between himself and the field, while posit ions changed behind him. Anthony Maniglia, who came out of the first turn in aro und the 10t h spo t, sliced through the fie ld and began hounding Posey for the number-two spot after Harvey dr opped off the pace . On lap five, Maniglia made a move on Posey and sec ured second spo t, but he found Peeble s was way gone. Posey hung on for third . Trevor Doniak had a good run for the four spo t, followed by Kramer Patterson . In moto two , Peebles once again shot to the front and turned in a nearly identical perfonnance. This time out, Brad Kelly, who came in seventh in moto one, gave chase to Pee bles but found his pace too much to overcome . As Pee bles once again enjoyed an unchallenged ride , Maniglia hounded Kelly for the entire mote, and the effort paid off, as his 2-3 tally earned him second overall on the day. Doniak followed up with a consistent 4-4 showing for third overall. Kelly (7-2) and Posey (3- 12) rounded out the top five on the day. In 2S0cc Inter med iate action , Peebles sat on the gate , poised to win another class. but he got tangled up off the start and was re legate d to th e back of the 22- rider fie ld. Inste ad. it was Yamaha pilot Jared Morriso n who got the lead, followed by Kelly Curtis Roe and Rory Radovich .
