the holeshot and ran away. Everyone else was basically racing for second. After a seve n-lap batt le, Yamaha-moun ted Jason Wiley edged out Aaron Day for runner-u p. Michael Willard and Rjdge Davis roun ded out the top five. Moto two was a different story. due to a hard get-off by Hov is. Young phenom Davis took the point. T he n Mike McDade from Beaver Falls . Pe nnsylva nia . took the le ad through the whoops. Howeve r, that was shortlived, as McDa de crashed out and the Gary Ba ile y ' s Riding Schco l-spcnso red Davis regained the lead . Dav is had pressure from Do ug Ear ls, Willard and Rodney Horrock s. After a seven-lap skirm ish , Davis took t he checkers first, with Earls, Willard and Horrocks all w ithin three bikelengths . T im Hodock rounded out the top five. Davis (5- 1) captu red the overall. Willard (4-3) earned second, Earls (7-2) was third , Day (3-6) was fourth and Wiley (2.7) got fifth. As they lined up for the 250cc A con test, te nsion was high. Davis nabbe d the holeshot, but a first -lap m istake to ok him out o f contention. Hovis capitalized and took the lead. followed by Hodock, Mike Mart in and Willard. On lap four, Hodock took the lead through the whoops, with Willard following. A slip-up on lap six allowed Willard and Hovis to pass Hod ock. O n the final lap, on the uphill triple, Hovis too k the lead - but on the downhill doub le, Hovis did the "Rag Doll" and Willard retook the lead for the win. Hodock, Martin, Earls and Horrocks completed the top five. Hovis finished 13th. Moto two saw McDade and Hovis battling for the point. McDade secured the lead after a two -lap battle . Willard got a bad start but was on the move, claiming third spot on lap two only to crash out again! McDade took the win, followed by Hovis, Earls, Hodoc k and Horrocks. Honda of Winston-Salem's Hodock (2-4) took the overall. Young McDade (6-1) claimed second. Earls (4- 3) was th ird . Willard (1-6) earned fourth , and Horrocks (5-5) was fifth. With 22 e ntr ies in the Over 35 class, the action was hot . Contenders Scottie Shipley and Russ Pickett were taken out in the first tum , so it was anyone's race . Michael Andrews won it in a cakew alk. Erik Pfeiffer, Chuck Green, Nlen Nford and Dean Sarver completed the top fIVe. Shipley got the mato-two holeshot. On the final lap. Andrews made his move through the whoops. The two banged bars in t he turn following. with Andrews prevai ling. Andrews swept bo t h mo to s for th e ove rall . Luckily South For!< was in the "spare" column , t his weekend . Wh ile the surrounding areas received heavy rain to the point that the streets were nood ed. so mehow Sout h Fork d id not. Maybe the praye rs form the CBMX guys wo r!< well. The only down fall of the event was the fact that a lot of people thought there was no way that they would be able to race; they were very surprised when they found out it was a great day of racing! All of which Just goes to show that one should always go to the races, no matter what. Those who made the trip were treated to a great track, and big cash was up for grabs from Springfield's RTD Motorsports Inc. Not only did RTD put up money for the riders, they brought out their rig for support - and not only for their riders, but for all riders present! In the first SOccJunior mota, Bradon Meye r battled for the lead w ith Jonathan Mand elke. Meyer flashed by the checkered flag first for the mot o win. In the second mota, Mande lke put his bike in the front and this time held off Meyer for the mota and overall win. In the SOcc Senior class, someth ing strange occurred at the end of the race : There was a new winner. All year long, Cobra rider Zachary Loeh r has shown new speed , which has resulted in mota and ov e rall wins. In the first moto, Loehr again took his spot at the top , with Jacob Smothe rs second and Hayden Edwa rds third . M 40th Anniversary The second mot a pro ved that in motocros s, one never knows w hat might happen : Loehr finished seven th , which was good for th ird o verall. Out front , Smo t hers too k a we lldese rved moto and overall win. Hayden finished second for the moto and overall. At the other end of the field, the Over 50 class pro vided som e good racing. Loren Coo k and Robert Y oung atta cked the trac k all day. In t he first mota, Cook too k his Service Honda CRSOO two-st roke to th e rna to win .
