Diamandback Sportscenter Team Race Diamandback Sportscenter . H&M Racing Tops Dirt Bikes and Dust By TIM BETIIS RESACA, GA, JULY 2S D iamondback took a brief break from its O ff-Road Champi- ons hip Ser ies to host ano the r team race. Family, friends and co-worke rs made up an excit ing fie ld of more tha n 60 te ams, all of them out to batt le (or first place. With th e course be ing right at nine miles. Team H&M Racing set the pace ; they ran hard for four ho urs. burning up to 14 laps and dominati ng the A class. As there has been little or no rain lately. it didn't take long to get the trails loose and d usty. Riders kept the level of action high by kee ping the race rea lly tigh t. In some cases , dust was stirred up e nough to send riders off the trail into the trees and grass . The course included o nly two small sections of the mot ocross track. O ne was a steady up hill with a sma ll dou ble m idway up and a step-over jump right at the to p. The do wn hillwas a ser ies of small singles designed to he lp keep the speeds up. T hese two additions to the co urse proved to get the best of severa l riders, including Hon da pilot Jeb Greens to ne, w hich led to a crash and ultimately a broken arm, all o n the first lap. Another rider fo und t he uphill just as unforgiving after do ing a Ieee -plant on t he second face of the do uble. Trans itioning from field to track to trail kept all the ride rs on the ir toe s, proving that the race is as hard as it is fun.
