ECEA Youth Ha re Scramb le s Se ries Round 6: Ox -So Hare Scra mbles Jorge H angs Tough at the Ox-Bo Incident By GLENN STEVENS TOWER CITY, PA, JULY 25 E frin jo rge III enjoyed his first ove ra ll w in, edging out Alex Shaw by just four seco nds at th e O x-Be Har e Scrambles in To w e r City, Pennsylvania. As jorge appro ached the final steep downhill, he jammed the front wheel and crashed face -first into t he d irt . The c ro wd yelled, "Get up, push it!" as Jorge rode the last few yards to the checkered flag. The 1000c (12-15) class has been dominated by Christ opher Rizzon, And rew Delong and Sha w, No one ma y ha ve guessed th at Jorge wo uld ta ke the overall win on this day, but it's unlikely anyo ne w as surprised . jo rge can ride pretty fast , and if he doesn't cra sh or e ndure mechanica l failure , there's a good chance he w ill finish at least close to the top five. At the past fIVe rounds, he's carded a fourth, a fifth, an eighth and 42 a 14t h-place finish (along w ith one DNF) , so anything can be expected of this young man. T he weat he r w as nice, not too hot but a little d ry, as Shaw got th e holeshot a nd left Rizzon and Jorg e to breathe in his dust . Shaw led for the first two laps, but after Jorge put in the fast est lap t ime , he came out ahead and finished the final two laps in the lead to take the w in in the 100cc class and the overall victory. jorge 's Kawasa ki seems almo st too small for his tall fram e , as his knees almost interfere with the hand lebars . It's easy to pict ure him doi ng we ll on a 125 someday soo n. Another exciting race at O x-Bo occurre d in the ve ry competitive 6Scc (7-9) class. Tanne r Thomas crashed at the start and ca me back from 12t h place to ta ke anoth er first-p lace finish in this class.
