Raceway Park) with titles in 125cc and 250cc Pro/Expert and Over 30 Expert division s. C ar ste n ca rd e d a 4- 1 sco re in th e 12Scc Pro/Expe rt division and I-I ta llies in both the 250cc Pro/Expert and Over 30 Expe rt divisions . Carsten came into round five lead ing the 125cc Pro/Expe rt division in series po ints by seven and tr ailed series po ints leader Case y Clark by tw o po int s in the 250cc Pro /Expert division. Unfortunat ely, Clar k was a no -show at B Souplike conditions for the first half of the race program had riders switching to survival mode in Englishtown, New Jersey, but Corsten (96) did more than survive - he triumphed. O nly thr e e years shy of be ing eligible for the Over 40 Senior class, he's consistently shown t ~ at he is no t slowing down; Carst en regul arly qualifies for Nat ionals, curre ntly holds National numb er 96, a nd reg ularly s pa nks th e mu ch young e r competition at the local and nat ional levels. Mother Nature decid ed to make the final round an interesting one. Heavy rains pounded the area the night before and continued into race day, making practice sessions and the first half of the race program a lesson in mud riding. Huge ruts and souplike conditions made riders change from race mode into survivalmode. Scoring was also a nightma re . Fortunate ly for the ride". the rains sto pped , and after some extensive t rack work during int er missi on, the secon d set of motos had relativelydece nt track conditions. RRP's Jeremy Coo k nabbed a huge holeshot in the first 250cc Pro/Expert moto. Trailing we re Mark Waldele, Carsten and the n Dave Glnolfl, who wen t down in the sec on d turn, handing fourth to Jason Harpe r. Ginolfi remounted last but eventu ally came back to an impres sive fifth by mo ta's en d. Carst en t oo k t he le ad fro m Coo k on lap two and quickly put three seco nds on Cook before lap three. Cook wen t down in the corner prior to the big dou ble on lap th ree , handing t he runn er-up spot to Harpe r. Coo k rem ou nt e d thi rd . Har pe r clos ed th e gap on Carsten to three seconds by the last lap but ran out of time. Carsten got the win, followe d by Harper, Coo k. Waldele and Ginolfi. Hot and breezy cond itions greeted the riders . Jake Gagne didn't mind the weather and to ok his All-Ame rican KTM/Sidi/ Preci sion Con ce pts/Ace rbis/ Read y Filter-backed KTMs to dou ble-race w ins in the 65cc (9- 1I) and 85c c Novice classes. In the first mota fo r the 9· to I I-year-o ld riders, Suzuki-mou nte d Oillan Epstein grabbed the holeshot, with Gagne behind. Tanner Lovgren put his Zeal Racing-backed Suzuki into third. w ith www.cyclenews.com Colt on Sand e rs giving chase on his KTM of Mojave/Simpso n ride . Gagne made his mo ve going into the third tum and started putting some d ista nce betwe e n himself and t he ba ttl e fo r seco nd. That fight would last the en tire mote , with Epste in getting the position over a de jected Sanders. Lovgre n finished a lonely fourth , ahead of Jonathan Augusta, on his Kawasaki. Gagne showed less patience in the se co nd mota, launching out of the gate and chec king out early. Epste in grabb ed a second- place start, with Sanders giving chase, but he lost the spot afte r t ipp ing o ver in the tig ht t hird tu r n .
