Neeley Stands Tall By FRANCENE DEPREZ JEFFERSON, TX. APR, 4 unday's Post -Vintage event at Diamond Den's was quite a succ-ess, with more than 160 pre registered riders - double the gate of last year' s event. The track was well-groomed and very challenging, featuring loamy black earth, two-foot berms, and a great off-camber tum at the finish line. The Over 40 Expert race was the one to watch. In moto one, Robert Neeley was on Donnie Gaiitaloupi like a wetsuit. Cantaloupi held on to the lead throughout the race but had Neeley 's rubber marks all over his bike, as Neeley constantly fought to pass. Neeley lumped out in front in moto two and never gave Cantaloupi a chance to pass. First place went to Neeley (2-1), second to Cantaloupi ( 1-2), and Dan Greenwood (4-3) fought hard for his third-place trophy. In the Open Age Expert race , James Greenleaf, on his 1977 n , held the lead for the first two laps and then lost out to Jeremy Brewington, who rode his 1980 Suzuki to the win . In the second moto, Brewington was a DNS, which let Greenleaf take home the firstplace trophy with 2-1 finishes. Second went to Kelly Shane (3-2). John Vasquez ma intained the lead throughout the Open Age Intermediate race . Although Shawn O'Connor held a strong second, he jumped the start and thus received a penalty. Second went to Mike Hoath , and third went to O'Connor. In mota two , O 'Connor quickly jumped into the lead but couldn't mainta in it. Hoath took home the trophy with a 2-1 tally. O 'Connor (3-2) took se cond overall. Third went to Indiana's Rik Smits, on his '8 1 Maico. S Stone (Su. ); 2. "JYler Home (lITH); J. Chase Beck (Hon ); • . Jeffrey Petit (Han ); S.
