he winter Barn Burner Series at Chowchill
a
is done for this yea r. The summer Sliding
Sideways Series will begin Sunday. May 30, and
the new winter Bam Burner Se ries (he ld under
the fairgrounds' cover) will begin again in Octobe r. Th is night's racing con cluded wi th an
awards ceremony in which high-po int trophies
w e re awarded to t he top three qualifiers In
each class . The be autiful trophies were taller
t han many o f t he w inners, wi t h t he riders'
names and categories and the date e mblazoned
o n each one . Addit ionally, awa rds were pre se nted to a lot of peo ple who we re instru men tal in planning and orchestrating these races , as
weli as t he Most Improve d Ride r (Briar Bauman), the Racing Family (t he Wood s family), and
more.
With 22 main events to run and an awards
ce re mo ny to finish too , no time was wa sted
getti ng riders on the track. Bro nson Bauman
a nd Weasel Hickm an con t inue d the ir 65cc
competition ; the two have run neck and neck
throughout the series . This night's win and this
high point went to Hickman , with a six-point
lead.
Jus t in Pe tz finished se co nd in t he 85cc
Novice class on the night, with Briar taking the
win and the high-point trophy. Pe tz took t he
to p trophy in the 80cc Youth class.

victory in the 1000c Modified and Open FourSt ro ke classes. De nnis Trentman finished both

Larry Clover was the winner and high-point
cham p in the I25cc Novice class. He also too k

took the Senior high-point trophy hom e with

Bob Hill, Donnie Howard and Nick Moore
came out of turn one in that o rder in the
Money race . Moo re tried hard to ge t around
Howard, but his back wheel was spinning while
Ho wa rd 's and Hill's were getting t ract ion .

to get around Hill. but Hill kept the inside line

O regon Motocross Se ries. The Yamaha-mounted rider from Brush Prairie had tough competit ion in bot h classes, bu t in th e e nd , Cu rrie r
prevailed .
Currier's first win came in t he 85cc age gr o up co ntest. W hile Cu rrier d idn't get th e
starts he 'd ho ped for, he moved to the head of
the pack early on in both motos. Mall DeAtley
and ano ther Suzuki rider, Ben Anglen, were the
only riders to lead Currier all day long. Currier,
however, had an answer for their challe nges.
Anglen placed second to Currier in both ascc
age-group metes , although Anglen, in his final
day of 8 Scc co mpe t it ion , st ill came away a
winner. Anglen, from near by Culver, won the
adjoined 14-16 class t o trail 12- 13 winner
