Chow chilla Fairgr ounds was the place to be on Sat urday night. Those spe edway boys sure put on a F show! Bryan Y arrow is usually the top rider in the Division On e event, but this week he wa tched from the sidelines . AJthough spectating isn't Yarrow's favorite thing to do at the track, things were different for him o n this night: H aving signed a con tract on Friday to ride speedway in Euro pe fo r the next yea r, Yarrow was happy to be a spectator in Chowchilla. At the riders' meeting, Joe Diaz presented Yarrow with the number-one trophy for winning the Division O ne class in this series. The D ivisio n One winner this week w as Man Br ow ne. followed by J.T. Mabry and Robert Mellor. Just staying on top of the bikes seemed to be cha llenging: With each heat race, riders we re slidi ng into hay bales and o ut the back-fe nce op enings. As is always the case, there were some new riders in the Pee Wee class. Kevin Alco rn ro de to victo ry, fo llowed by Seth Fische r and Josh Pe n . Sco tt Hamp to n Jr., who ride s w ith th e District 36 number-t hree black plate, won the 50cc Modified class, followe d by Don nie Howa rd 's so n Nath an. Weasel Hickman and Bronson Bauman competed again for t he top spot in the 65cc eve nt. Hickman was victorious on this night. These two have co mpete d th roug hout this se ries, and with only four races left, they are separated by only six points, with Hickman in front. Briar Bauman left the start line of the 85cc Novice class in front and took this eve nt from wire to w ire . Michael Cantu finis hed second. Justin Petz finished first in SOc event. c Danielle Caldeira rode to another victory in the Powder Puff class , with Bra ndi Monasmith and Leah Frank finishing behind her. Danlette's brother Bo bby took the Youth 1000 c Stock win, in front of Dennis Trentman; this put Bobby another 2S points ahead in the series' class standings. AI ludwigsen continued his winni ng streak in the Senior class, with Jack Hayes only 39 poin ts beh ind in the batt le for the series trophy. Hayes finished second, and he also placed second , behind Anthony Tucker, in the Vintage Novice event. lin ing up for the Money race , six riders set off at the flash of the green light. The racing was fast and furious, with Donnie in the front spot. Nick Moore, running in secon d spot, wo rked this track high and low to get past Do nnie , and he acco mplished his goal on the last lap and took the win. Moore came back to finish the O pe n Expert class first as wel l. March 27 will be the final race of t his series , but a new Sunday series will beg in in May on t he ne wly cut cushion .
