Walden Playboys Motocross Park: Yamaha rider Brian Mulcahy was hot once again at Walden Playboys' annual DAR E race in Plattekill, New York. He was flawless, scoring three overall wins in the muddy conditions. race. But this day was a little d iffere nt. Wi th ove rn ight rains o n Saturday and more rain on Sunday, the Walden crew decide d to cancel t he second se t of m ot o s, d ue to inclement weather , T he track was th e muddiest it's bee n so fa r th is yea r. Th e top rid er of the da y . wh o t o o k thr ee win s in th e Wald en m i r e , was Yamaha ride r Bri an Mulcahy . A res ident of Hewitt. New Jersey, M ulcahy rode flawlessly , desp ite the horrible co nditions . He took three overall wi ns, in the Senior M ini, Supe rm ini and Schoo lbo y classes. In th e Senior Mini clas s, M ulcahy took th e win over hi s m ain c om peti tion in Dis tr ict 34, Suzuki p ilot Jamie La wrence . Wi th his sho rt sta t ure , Lawren c e ro de very we ll but wasn' t ab le to k eep up with th e much bigger Mu l c ahy. Lawren c e fini shed sec ond o ve ra ll , in fr o nt o f Yamaha j ock ey Pet er K onda sh an d Honda ride rs Nicho las Price and Joshua Clark . Mu lcahy was able to put his trusty Yam aha up fron t once aga in in th e Sup ermini cla ss and take th e ove r all w in . T oward th e end of th e co ntes t , Cr awford and hi s fellow KTM rider (and the day 's I 25 cc Amateur wi nner ) Chris Laughnane ha d a great ba tt le, after Laughnane c ame back from a bad start and a few fa lls. Fourt h overall went to Yam aha 250 F rid er Ren J oll y, and roundi ng out th e t op five was th e day 's 125cc Nov ic e winn er. Yama ha ride r Rob ert Br ew . Taking an im pressive two overa ll wins on h i s hom e t rack w a s K TM / Mo roney 's Cycle/Holesho t Graphics rider J us tin Barcia. He too k th e 65cc (10 ·11) class very eas ily, but what m ade him so im pressive on the da y was hi s wi n in the J un ior Mi n i cla ss. des p ite his sho rt st ature and the Wald en muck . I was runni ng ninth overall into the pits, and th e hea t was affecting me a litt le bit, when Pau l Krause came by with some riding advice. He said, 'Get off your butt, Komy , and stand up !' I go t to ride and dice with Paul a lit tle bit, but the real dicing out there was with Brett Saunders. Saunders is a real sportsman. I passed him; he passed m e back . good times o u t th ere! I was using a ll six gears on thi s co urse. I really lik ed th e ext ra techn ical section th ey th rew in ; riding in the rocks is my forte ."
