Delta Park Raceway The Stars and Stripes Come Out in Portland By JUSTIN WHARTON PORTLAND, OR, JULY 3 Decked out in red, white and blue from head to toe, Eric Loney handily won the 125cc Pro class on the night of July 3 in Portland, Oregon. In the first 125cc Pro and Intermediate mota, Intermediate rider Anthony Cerruti absconded with the holeshot, with Scotty Bloom and Loney in tow. Loney fought his way by Bloom, and a few laps later Johnson messed up on the step-up and was unable to do the large double. Both Joey Lancaster and Tim Holas got by Johnson, and Johnson could never quite get his rhythm back. When the checkers came out. it was Cerruti with the win, followed by Loney, Bloom, Holas, Lancaster, Johnson and James Barrett. In the second moto, the Terry's Cycle Center-sponsored Cerruti pulled off another holeshot, but this time he had Loney right on his tail. The Team Moto Outfitters/MSR/Scott/ Pro Motion Suspension-backed Johnson started in third and was looking to stay in that position, but Bloom pulled off a pass when Johnson slid sideways on a small rise. Up front, Cerruti and Loney were locked in a fierce battle for the lead, and it looked like Loney was almost going to take the win, but Cerruti guarded every comer all the way to the checkered flag for the victory. Loney followed mere bikelengths behind for second, and the Suzuki-mounted Bloom came away with third. The battling Lancaster and Johnson finished third and fourth, respectively. Loney (1- 1) came away with the overall in the I 25cc Pro class, while Holas (2-2) finished second. Cerruti smoked the Intermediate class with a I-I score, while the Pro Caliber-sponsored Bloom (2-2) finished second, and rounding out the podium was Lancaster (3-3) in third. Johnson (4-4) finished fourth, and Barret (5-5) was fifth. Aaron Blaine and John Laible battled for the holeshot in the 50cc (7 -B) age class, but Laible came away with the upper hand. However, Blaine quickly took the lead away from Laible and pulled out a lead. Coltin Scott and Mason Wharton followed, but they were having trouble catching the two up front. Blaine appeared to have the win in the bag until he encountered some lappers and had trouble finding a fast way around them. Laible veered through them to take the lead and held on for the win, followed by Blaine in second and Scott in third. In the second mota, Blaine took the lead right off the bat and never looked back. Scott and Wharton were once again dueling for the third position, but Scott proved a little faster, and Wharton eventually started to lose a few precious seconds. Blaine took the win, foliowed by Laible and Scott. Blaine (2-1) took the overall, followed by Laible (1-2) and Scott (3-3) in second and third, respectively. Wharton (4-4) finished fourth, and Thompson (5-5) rounded out the top five. Results 50 (4·6): 1. Somuel Mercer (KTM); 2. Shaden Nugent (KTM); 3. Keltln Boykin (Hus); 4. John Pal50n (KTM); 5.
