fourth shaping up among Justin White, Justin Mantz and Shane Tennihill. Paxia slowly pulled out to a three-second lead by the end to win, over Aldridge and Day. White dropped back, and Tennihill moved up to fourth on the track. Mantz followed closely in fifth. Paxia led mota two but was challenged by Jacklyn Ross from the very beginning. Davis Moseley gated better in third, and Day and Aldridge were next. With his 100cc machine, Ross was underpowered down the straights against the 125cc bike. but he closed up in the corners. Moseley decided to make it a three-way race on lap two, and the three went lap after lap only a few feet apart. No one seemed to be able to break away or get a wheel under to make a pass. After the halfway mark, the pressure seemed to be getting to Paxia, as he started protecting all the inside lines, giving up some speed but keeping the lead. Ross kept pushing, but time ran out and Paxia won, followed very closely by Ross and Moseley. Day and Aldridge were fourth and fifth. Two brothers who did well were the Morel· los. The older brother. Mikey. took the 65cc' (9·11) class win. while Jason won the Pee Wee Shaft (4·6) class. Justin Halt led the first 65cc moto. with Mikey right there. The two pulled away and were in a class by themselves. Hall eventually won by a couple of seconds over Morello. Nathan Wirth and Alex Craver were in different classes but had the ride of the night. The two stayed close the entire time, with Craver getting the nod. Jeffrey Greenwood took his KTM to fifth on the track. Mikey led the second mota, followed by Hall. The two stayed close. Hall passed for the lead befdre the halfway flag. Morello repassed Hall a couple of laps later. The two ran into lapped traffic, and Hall challenged but came up a bikelength short at the end. Jason Morello and Jonathan Freeborough traded wins in the 50cc Shaft (4·6) class. Jason won the second moto for the tie breaker, gelling the overall. Robbie Merrell and Nick Wirth finished third and fourth both times. Results PfW SHAFT (4-6): I. Jason Morello (Yam); 2. Jonathan borough (KTM); 3. Robbte Merrell (Yam); 4. Nkk Wirth (Yam). MAY 18 Round two of the RACE Superseries ran as a support to the Parts Canada Superbike Championship races, and the quality of racing was on par with the National offering. Derek Bowker scored his second consecutive class victory in the Amateur Formula final. Bowker's first-round win was a runaway, but this time he had to fight very hard for the win. Fast starter Bill Card, on the McBride's Honda, led for the first few laps, with Honda riders Jeremy French and Michael Ferriera following. Bowker, on the Yamaha, was battling for fourth with Diablo Suzuki pilot Yannick Beauregard. By the time lap five went in the books. Bowker had made short work of the three riders in front of him, towing French into second. French made several runs at Bowker, the last of which caused him to bobble, and he slowed and settled for a safe second. Bowker now has a commanding early lead in the seven-race championship. The Can-Am 125cc champion of 2002, Stuart Nadell, staged a solid wire-to-wire performance in the Pro 125cc GP race, and in doing so he missed the best race of the day. Nodell's victory of several seconds belied the true race within the race. For the entire six-lap melee, four riders ran as one in the battle for runner-up honors. Jim Struke, Corey Sherman (on the Carrera Leathers entry), Canadian Armed Forces-sponsored Yvan Desy, and John Dempsey all swapped positions through the race, with no individual able to gain the upper hand. As if that drama weren't enough, the gang of four came up on two lappers total- Shannonville Motorsport Park: Derek Bowker (156) leads Yannick Beauregard (969) in the Amateur Formula final at round two of the RACE Superseries in Shannonville, Ontario, Canada. 86 JUNE 25, 2003' II: U II: e n e 'ftI" s Iy immersed in their own tango as the last two corners approached. Six riders somehow made it through the tight left-hander known as Allen's Comer, and positions changed again. Sherman went from fourth to second, while Dempsey's slide and near highside relegated him from second to fifth. Struke had the best view of the action as he threaded his way through into third, with Desy right alongside, taking fourth. The large crowd was thrilled by the finjsh. After a poor start, Darren James led the most important portion of the Motosport Plus Canadian Thunder race, taking the lead halfway through the six-lap final and then a comfortable victory. Ducati-mounted Robert Trottier was point man for the thundering pack through laps one and two. Adam Bennett ran second on his Aermachi for most of lap one, but Jesse Lauder, on the Barrie HD-supported Buell, made his pass between turns one and two. Lauder upped his personal pace on lap two. Then James came calling on the Ruthless Racing Buell, and the two Harley-powered mounts quickly reeled in Trottier. Bennett followed the two Buells. Less than a lap later, Trottier miscued. Lauder almost did likewise and backed off, letting James have the cushion and the race win. In Z I Cycle SV 650 Cup racing, Marc St. Amand sped to the race win. with Jody Pearce second, James Collins third and Lawrence Kovac fourth. St. Amand now has the series points lead. OR, MAY 22 Andy Page showed that even after a break from racing, he hasn't lost any speed, as the Iikabie 18·year·old from Washougal, Wash· ington, swept both 125cc Pro motos. Page got the first-mota holeshot, with Tim Holas and Joe McCraw in tow. A few seconds later, the Before The Hill class took off, with local phenom Joel Ard nabbing a huge holeshot. Page and Halas were locked in a battle the whole race, never more than a second apart, while behind them Ard had caught McCraw and passed him and opened a large gap over James Hamilton. When the checkers came out, Page got the win in the 125cc Pro class, with Holas in tow for second and McCraw in third. Taking the win in the Before The Hill class was Ard, followed by Hamilton and, in third after a poor start. James' little brother Daniel. In the second mota. Page once again absconded with the holeshot, and this time he got a little breathing room, as Holas didn't start the second mota. In the Before The Hill class, Ard once aga in came out of the first comer with the lead, ahead of Randall Lewis and James Hamilton. Lewis was quickly relocated back to fourth, and he struggled with the pace from then on. Up front, Page had it easy, playing around on the jumps until he looked back and saw Ard's 450cc Yamaha coming up on him. so he turned on the afterburners and was able to maintain a comfy lead to the finish line. The Mota Outfitters/FMF/Spectro· backed Page won the J 25cc Pro class with a 1-1 tally, followed by McCraw (3-2). Rounding out the podium was Halas (2·DNS). Ard (I-I) won the Before The Hill portion, with James Hamilton (2-2) in second and Daniel Hamilton (3-4) in third. The Holeshot Designs-span. sored Scott Bloom (5-3) took fourth, and rounding out the top five was Nate Kanney (4·5). Jonathan Andrew snared the holeshot in the first 50cc (7 ·8) mota but was soon passed by Devin Harriman, who took off and was never challenged again. Harriman claimed the checkers, and Andrew held off the advances of Tyler Webb and John Laible for second. Webb garnered third. Delta Park Raceway: Andy Page (181) scored 1-1 finishes for the overall 125cc Pro-class win in Portland, Oregon. Harriman jumped out into the lead in the second moto and repeated his first-mota performance, leaving the pack behind. Andrew had second spot, but there was a four-way battle for third among Webb, Laible, Sierra Bragg and Mason Wharton. By halfway, Laible had third place locked down. and Webb had to hold off the two Polini riders, Bragg and Wharton. When the checkers flew, the order was Harriman, Andrew. Webb, Laible. Wharton and Bragg. Harriman (1·1) picked up the overall win, Andrew (2·2) claimed second. Laible (4-3) earned third, Webb (3·4) got fourth, and the Wulfsport·sponsored Bragg (5-6) squeaked into fifth. Results 50 (4·6): I. Travis Thompson (KTM); 2. Jordan Thibedeau (Cob); 3.
