Both riders got bad starts; Carey finished the mota in ninth. and as for Grichine, a nasty crash in the first turn took him out of the moto (though he sustained no injuries). Seligson took the overall with a 4-1 score. Surprisingly, Carey still took second overall aboard his Yamaha YZl25_ Third overall went to Yamaha rider Wayne Stobbe (9-4). and fourth overall went to Kawasaki pilot Jim Wild (7-6). KTM kruncher Jesse Williams. the king of the older guys. DeFazio dug deep to rocket around the first tum with the lead. Williams, Steven Gibson and Bobby Hardin were in a tight group, right in his wake. Hardin jumped into second, but his charge was halted by a tip-over. Williams moved right up on Defazio on the white-flag lap, and when DeFazio bobbled. he took the easy mota-one win. DeFazio recovered for second. and Gibson nailed down third. Hardin stormed the corner, leading DeFazio and Williams, as race two cranked up. Gibson joined the front-runners. and Kyle Kirby was leading the rest. DeFazio grabbed the lead on the west side at midrace, and Williams was still in the hunt. Hardin stalled before the finish line at the start of the whiteflag lap, and Williams surged up to DeFazio's rear fender. They were bar to bar for the last lap, but DeFazio wouldn't crack, nipping Williams for the win and the physical overall, leading Gibson, Hardin and Kirby in the 65cc (6-8) class. Williams' close second netted him the 65cc (9-11) overall, besting Travis Mangrum. It was Dillon Christensen's day as well, but then again, it always seems to be Christensen's day. In the 125cc/250cc Open race, he powered his big four-stroke off the gate to round the first turn ahead of Nate Shalduha and Garrett Morgan. From then on, it was "lights out," as Christensen opened up a big lead, leaving Shalduha and Morgan to fight for second. Garrett passed for second but then went down in a sweeper, and when Shalduha also lost it. Jordan Dula took over second. Christensen romped to win number one, as Dula led Donovan Durst and Shalduha through the pipes. Christensen rocketed out once again in moto two, as Shalduha and Curtis Hanna gave chase. It was no contest - Christensen was off once again. Shalduha stayed safe in second, and Dula emerged from the pack to claim third. The final results had Christensen leading Shalduha, Dula and Morgan in the 250cc class, while Hanna topped Jay Jaramillo, Durst and Jordan Shalduha in the 125cc division. Results Haspi" Acres MX Park: Evan Valvano (6) leads Cory Leist (7) and Joey Dorr (75) in the second 50cc Auto moto at round two of the Haspin Acres MX Series in Laurel, Indiana. made the pass for the lead with just over half a lap left. Then Preston retook the lead, sprinting to the checkers for the first-moto win. Pfaller absconded with the second-moto holeshot. Preston made his move off the ski jump and looked over at ?faller as if to say, "Here we go again!" Two laps into the moto, Pfaller took a soil sample on the back section of the track, and Preston was gone_ Pfaller moved past Marshall and Joe Day for second at the flag and runner-up honors on the day. Paxia won the combined 125cc Intermediate/Beginner contest with a 1-1 score. The track was also in tip-top shape for the night and never looked better, which helped, too. The riders gathered for the next-to-Iast round of the eight-round Deater Support Series. First on the track was the 125cc Intermediate and Beginner contest. Paxia jumped out to the lead. At the end of lap one, Michael Aldridge and Chad Day were close behind Paxia. Many riders were on hand to battle on this purely natural motocross track layout, but there was one rider who showed up and blew away his competition - Honda of Houston's Phil Nicoletti.
