he contested. Dirt got the holeshot in both
five were Spear, Cope, Corey McDarby and
David Szymansky.
Kruger led the pack out of the first tum in
the second Collegeboy moto but was quickly
relegated to second by Wisniewski. Rounding
out the top five were Spear, McDarby and
Cope. Wisniewski pulled out to another good
lead, but not quite the whopper he had in the
first moto. The top five were spread out by the
third lap, and the rest of the race was a snoozer. Wisniewski got the second-moto win and
made it look rather easy. with an advantage of
almost 20 seconds. Rounding out the top five
were Spear, McDarby, Kruger and Cope.
Wisniewski topped the Collegeboy-cJass
podium with a perfect 1-1 score. Spear's consistent 2-2 rides gave him runner-up, and
McDarby rounded out the podium with a 4-3
score.
motes of the 30cc Beginner class. In moto
one, he held on for two laps before he fell in
the woods section and was passed by Ed
Wagner, Mike Boehnke, Josh Stauffer and
Kelly Ensor. Chapman led moto two for 2 1/2
laps until he spun out and was passed by
Jonathan Brazel, Wagner, Stauffer and Kelly
Ensor. Stauffer finished in the top spot overall,
followed by Ensor and Stauffer. Chapman
took fifth. The only female rider, Ryane Gordon, placed 14th.
Drew Ivey earned the "First-ta-Worst"
award in the 125cc Junior class. Riding with a
terrible migraine, Ivey got a horrible start in
moto one but managed to work his way up to
second place, behind Nick Holum, who was
riding an orange bike. Kaz Wirkus was third,
followed by Kevin Steere, Brandon Picot and
Justin Benzel. Ivey got a better start in moto
two but took a spill and faded back to finish
15th. The second-moto win went to Holum,
followed by Wirkus and Steere, and the overall
results mirrored those.
Cole Scott, Cameron Jungers, Ryan Walsh
and Sierra Bragg all duked it out in the 60cc
Intermediate class. Scott and Walsh looked
like they were joined at the hip for most of
moto one until Scott pulled away on lap three
for the win. Walsh finished second, with
Jungers and Bragg in hot pursuit and finishing
third and fourth. Moto two saw best friends
Scott and Jungers go at it for three laps until
Scott pulled ahead for the win. Walsh finished
third, with Bragg in fourth. The podium spots
went to Scott, Jungers and Walsh, and Bragg
was fourth overall.
Round sponsors Renthal, Hansen's Energy
Drinks and EVS had tons of cool giveaways
for riders throughout the day. The Skagit
Powersports Holeshot Awards went to Dustin
Ralston in the 50cc Open class and Derek
Campbell in the Beginner Open class. Factory
contingency money was available to red,
green and yellow riders sharp enough to place
well.
