Loretta Lynn's Area Qualifier Midway Motorsports Parle Clark Masters Midway By MARK BUCHANAN MITCHELL. IN. APR. 12 Nearly 300 riders showed up at Midway Motorsports Park in Mitchell. Indiana. for the first of two days of qualifying for the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Championships. and the racing was great. The weather was sunny and warm with a slight wind, and Danny Davis had the track in great shape. Shawn Clark had a great day on his Dreyer Cycle/Team Green Kawasakis, taking the overall wins in the 12Scc A and 2S0cc A classes. The 12Scc A class started off the day. and Jeff Jennings took the holeshot on a Suspen· sian Plus/Dreyer Motorsports Yamaha, in front of Yamaha riders Kody Molitor and Matthew Hopkins. Hopkins quickly moved into the lead, and "Flyin' Ryan" Sipes moved into second place on the first lap on a Gateway Cycles Kawasaki. Jennings held third, in front of Molitor and Clark. Sipes took the lead on the next lap and held on for the win. and Hopkins hung on to second place. Clark worked up to third, followed by Molitor and Jennings. Sipes took the second-moto holeshot, in front of Clark and Molitor, but crashed hard coming out of the back section of the track for a DNF. Clark took over the lead but was pressured hard by Molitor for two laps before opening up a slight gap for the win. Molitor finished second. and Hopkins worked his way into third after a close battle with Yamaha rider Donnie Adams T.J. Blake finished fifth on a Suspension Works/Finish Line Motorcycles Yamaha. ' Clark (3-1) took the overall, in front of Hopkins (2-3) and Molitor (4-2). Adams (8-4) claimed fourth overall, and Blake (7-S) was fifth. Molitor took the holeshot in the first 2S0cc A moto, in front of Sipes and Clark. Sipes qUickly took the lead on the first lap and kept it for the win. and Clark passed Molitor for second place on lap two. Molitor held on to third, and Derek Leist finished fourth on a Yamaha, in front of Blake. Leist nailed the holeshot in the second moto, in front of Clark and Honda pilot Tim Pridemore. Clark took the lead on the first lap and stayed there for the win. Leist held on to second. Blake passed Pridemore for third on lap two, and KTM-mounted Bill Loy finished fifth. Clark (2-1) got his second overall win, in front of Leist (4-2). Blake (5-3) claimed third, in front of Pridemore (7·4) and Yamahamounted Jonathan Williams (6-9). Justin "Pooh" Sipes had a great day on his FMFjO'Neal Kawasaki, taking the overall win in the 12Scc B Stock class and both moto wins in the 12Scc (12-1S) Stock class. Sipes won the 12Scc B Stock class after a great battle with Kyle Preston, on a Thor/ Sponsorhouse.com Suzuki. Eric Stewart took the holeshot in the first moto, on a Turning Wheel/Pro Circuit Yamaha, but Preston quickly took the lead on the first lap. Sipes moved up and pressured Preston the entire moto but couldn't make the pass for the win. Kenny Orr took third on lap two, and Stewart claimed fourth, in front of KTM rider Keith Grant. Sipes took the holeshot in the second mota and went the distance for the win. Preston pressured Sipes for the final two laps. but this time Preston couldn't make the pass. Tyler Bailes finished thjrd on a FencePros.com Yamaha, in front of Stewart and Sun State Fun Sports Kawasaki jockey Ryan Warren. Sipes took the overall, in front of Preston, and Stewart (4-4) claimed third, in front of Bailes (6-3) and Orr (3-6). Preston won both motos of the 2S0cc B class, in front of Motoplanet.com Kawasaki jockey Dustin Walker. Warren finished third in both motos, in front of Stewart. Yamahamounted Mike Corbin (6-6) claimed fifth overall. Sipes easily took both moto wins in the 12Scc (12-1S) Stock class.
