Arkansas Hare Scrambles Championship Series Round 2: Beech &rove Hare Scrambles Weisenfels What, Me Worry? liked the best," Carr said. "That is where I could turn it on." At the beginning of the fourth lap, Poteete went down hard, allowing Trav Tacker to get close to him. Tacker was only seconds behind Poteete going into the last lap of the day. The KX250-mounted Tacker took off in pursuit and finally took third place from Poteete, and then turned in his fastest lap of the day, putting himself 23 seconds ahead of Poteete at the finish. Weisenfels overheated his back brakes on the last lap, which caused him some grief. The brake problems didn't slow him down much he took the win by one minute and 30 seconds over Carr. "My KTM got me out to a good start, so I had nothing to worry about at the end," noted Weisenfels, who is currently contesting the By PAM CARR CASS, AR, MAR. 30 Nestled in the Ozark Mountains is some of the most beautiful land in Arkansas. At Byrd's Campground, one can canoe, swim and also ride motorcycles in the hills. This was the site of round two of the Arkansas Hare Scrambles Championship Series. The 8-mile trail was half grasstrack and half woods. The ground was perfect, without any mud or dust. There also was a new section of woods that contained about 1.5 miles of fresh, tight trees and rocks. Going into the first corner, a field of riders raced for the holeshot, with Kawasaki-mounted Josh Poteete taking the lead. On the first straightaway, KTM of Fayetteville's Josh Weisenfels was right on Poteete's back tire. Going into the grasstrack section, Poteete went into a corner and hit neutral. "I thought that I had kilied the engine, but I had only knocked it into neutral," Poteete said. Weisenfels put his HJC/Acerbis/Floogy. com/No Toil/Renthal-sponsored 250cc SX out in front of the field and pulled away. Poteete made a mistake, and the result was a battle for second between Brian Sanders and Clint Carr. The two passed each other three or four times in the first mile of the race. Carr was the last one to make a pass, capturing second place - where he would stay until the finish. With an open track ahead of him, Weisenfels just hammered the gas and tried to get far out in front of the rest of the class. At the end of the first lap, Weisenfels had a minute-andIS-second lead over second-placed Carr. "KTM has my 250cc SX prepped to the max, and it really runs great," Weisenfels said. Poteete turned in a good lap time on the second lap of the race and was only 30 seconds down from Carr. "I thought if I could get up with Clint, we could ride together and turn in some good laps, since we practice with each other a lot," said Poteete. On the third lap, the Factory Effex/UNI/ Boyesen/Scotts/Xtrememc.com-backed Carr stepped up the pace, turning in his fastest lap of the day. Carr was now one minute and 30 seconds behind Weisenfels, with two laps left in the race.
