Brazeal went down at the beginning of lap two, Bowles took advantage and took over second. Brazeal repeated his third-place finish. Travis Alewine put his Honda into fourth, and Ruble took another fifth, Dennis Jonon took no prisoners, riding his Kawasaki with exceptional skill and grace to take the overall win in the 80cc Open class. Jonon got the moto-one holeshot and never looked back, Behind him, you could have thrown a blanket over the riders battling for second. Jacob Leatherwood managed to hold off Cory Green and Nathan Cox to claim second on his Yamaha. Cox put his Yamaha into third, forcing Green to finish fourth on his Suzuki. Justin Berry rounded out the top five on his Yamaha. Leatherwood jumped into the lead as the gate dropped for mota two but crashed out on the second lap. Jonon took over the lead, with Berry in second. Once again there was a good battle for that second-place trophy; this time it was among Berry, Green, and Kawasaki jockey Trey Canard, who had crashed hard in mota one but had gotten back up to finish ninth. After lots of bar~to~bar racing, Berry finished in second, Green managed to hang on to third, Canard took fourth, and Cox came across the finish line in fifth.
