Regional Arenacross Series Broadbent Arena Gibson Takes Two By IYIARK BUCHANAN LOUISVILLE, KY, JAN. 25 Jeff Gibson put in another dominating performance at the Regional Arenacross at the Broadbent Arena in Louisville, Kentucky. on Saturday, taking first place in both of the 125cc and 250cc Pro/Expert main events on his Answer/Dunlop/Ecc Suzukis. Gibson took the holeshot in the 125cc Pro/Expert main, in front of Billy Jurevich, on an All-American Suzuki. and Scott Metz, on an F&S Suzuki, but Melz came away with the lead, in front of Team Green Kawasaki jockey Matt Barnes and Gibson. Barnes and Gibson worked past Melz on the third lap, and Gibson took the lead from Barnes on lap four for the win. Barnes finished second, with David Oettel taking third place on a MotoXtremes Husqvarna, in front of Jurevich and Max Pitts Suzuki rider Brad Ripple. Mike Katin took the holeshot in the 250cc Pro/Expert main on a KeamesSports.com Suzuki, in front of Gibson and Barnes. Gibson qUickly took the lead. "Flyin' Ryan" Sipes, from nearby Vine Grove. Kentucky. moved into second place on a Kawasaki, in front of Katin. Sipes pressured Gibson for the lead for several laps before lapped traffic allowed Gib· son to pull away for the win. Sipes finished a close second, in front of Katin, and Tommy Barron worked his F&S Suzuki into fourth place, in front of Barnes. Barnes took the holeshot in the Dash For Cash, in front of Katin and Gibson, but Gibson quickly took the lead and heid the top spot until a mistake on the last lap let Katin take the win and the money. Gibson finished second, followed by Brad Modjewski, on an American Suzuki, and Barnes. Roy Horton took first place in the Extreme Jump-Off contest on a Nielson Enterprises Suzuki, in front of local favorite "Sluggo" Gessner from Jeffersonville. Indiana, on a Cycle Shed KTM. Greg Brooks finished third on a JMC Racing Honda. Michael Willard took the win in the 250cc Intermediate main event on an AMI/KTM Sport Motorcycles KTM. John Wisenbarger finished second on a Thor Yamaha, in front of Gateway Cycles Kawasaki jockey Dusty Walker. Vamaha·mounted Jesse Brewer finished fourth, and Chuck Stewart took fifth place on a Fastraxx Yamaha. Champion Cycle KTM rider Kyle Preston took the lead on the first lap for the win in the 125cc Intermediate class, in front of Wisenbarger and Willard. Levi Kilbarger took the holeshot and finished fourth on a Bo's Radical Racers Suzuki, in front of Walker. Big 4 Cycle Kawasaki jockey Justin. Fortner took the win in the 250cc Novice class, in front of Kent Gross, on a Decal Works Kawasaki. Derek Haydon Jr. finished third on a Paul's Cycle Suzuki, followed by Station Park Honda rider Brian Boone and Hondamounted Mitchell Welty. Matthew Blake took the holeshot and the win in the 'I 25cc Novice class on a Finish Line Motorcycles Yamaha. Yamaha of Madison· backed Tyler Greves took the early lead but went down in' the turn after the finish line. Blake resumed the lead for the win.
