Laughridge worked his way up to make a late pass on Brayton and give him the third-place spot. Sunday's 125cc main event was an epic battle between current champ Josh Demuth and Ryan Huffman. Demuth grabbed the holeshot, but Huffman took the lead two corners later. Antunez rode in the third spot, with Hofmaster in fourth. Demuth put the pressure on Huffman early and made the pass; Huffman kept on the pace, stealing the lead back. Demuth and Huffman traded the lead, while Antunez, Laughridge and Hofmaster were never far behind. With just a few feet separating the top five at some points, Huffman's determination never faded. He tailed Demuth into the last lap, making the pass in the final whoops section to take his second win of the season. Demuth set- tied for second, with Antunez in third. Absent from Sunday's main-event action was Richmond Racing Kawasaki's Darcy Lange, who crashed in his 125cc heat race after being hit from behind. He hit his head on the concrete floor and spent the rest of the day sidelined with a concussion and a sore tailbone. Fellow Richmond rider Brad Hagseth was also injured in the same heat race. Hagseth finished Sunday's 125cc main in the 16th spot but pulled off during the 250cc main with an elbow injury. Richmond brought in 14-yearold Canadian speedster Colton Facciotti to ride in place of an already injured Gavin Gracyk. Facciotti qualified for all four main events, finishing outside the top lOin each. In an interview on Tuesday morning, Richmond team manager Dave Gowland said that the injuries were worse than were originally suspected. Lange suffered a broken tailbone in the crash, while Hagseth came away with a broken elbow. Gowland expects it to be at least two weeks before Lange will be back on the bike, and estimated four to six weeks for Hagseth, who only recently returned from a shoulder injury. With Gracyk still recovering from earlier injuries, the Richmond team will not be racing in Milwaukee: "It's very disappointing," said Gowland. Before the premature end to his weekend, Lange won Saturday's 250cc main and charged back from last place to an impressive fourth in Antunez (middle), Hofmaster (left) and Laughridge (right) celebrate on the podium after Sunday's 250cc main. Ducle the 125cc main, amid cheers from the Canadian crowd. Tommy Hofmaster took Saturday's 125cc win. Hofmaster grabbed the holeshot, with Huffman in second. Hofmaster rode smart, building a nice lead by the checkers. Huffman held off Demuth until late in the race but settled for second. Lange charged his way back to fourth after crashing on the start. Lange gave the Canadian fans the show they were looking for in the 250cc main. Leading out of the gate, he held off Chad Johnson and Hofmaster. Johnson held the second spot for several laps before Hofmaster made the move up. With Hofmaster ahead, Johnson tried to hold off Demuth and hold on to the podium finish. Demuth made the late pass for third, making for the now-familiar podium of Lange, Hofmaster and Demuth. With Lange absent on Sunday, Honda Canada's Doug DeHaan was the top finishing Canadian. DeHaan finished 14th in Saturday's 125cc main and sixth in the 250cc main before taking seventh in Sunday's 125cc and 10th in the 250s. With four different main-event winners in Toronto, Demuth leads the points race with 719, to Lange's 622. Antunez holds third place with 558, just three points ahead of Hofmaster. eN T"",mo $kydOlDe T"",ate. Oatario, Ca..... Results: Fel..... ry 1-2, 2003 (Hoa.d 10J Saturday 125 PRO: 1.
