Cone put a few bikelengths on the pack. Petty made a mistake, and Duquette and Johnson were there to capitalize. Johnson came out in second. Johnson was a way back from Cone and was not going to make up that distance. Steve Rush was just outside the top five but ready to make his move. Rush passed Patrick first. Petty made another mistake, and suddenly Rush was in fourth. Caiazza and Brent Windland glued themselves to Rush's rear fender and made every move that Rush made. By the end of the mota, all three had moved past Duquette to secure third through fifth. Barry Mayo led the second moto, ahead of Windland, Cone and Petty. Johnson sat in fifth. waiting to move up. Mayo was just a few bikelengths ahead of the battle for second. Cone got around Windland and set his sights on Mayo and the overall. Johnson crept into fourth and surprised Wind land for third at the halfway flag. Johnson was charging fast, and Cone saw the Yamaha rider coming up. With two laps to go, Johnson moved into second, and Mayo was not that far ahead. Johnson reeled in Mayo and got the lead with one lap to go. Johnson rode off for the win; Mayo barely kept Cone back for second. Windland finished fourth, and Duquette was a distant fifth. Mitchell Pagery slowly pulled out a few seconds from Craig Johnson to take the first Over 30 moto. Johnson did the same in sec· and, keeping Joey Petruzzelli out of striking distance. Kent Ross and Bevin Carroll rounded out the top five. Johnson absconded with the holeshot by at least three bikelengths in the second moto. Pagery was nowhere to be found. Ross and Petruzzelli were trying to keep close. Ross pulled up alongside on lap two when Johnson missed a gear and couldn't jump the double· double. The two were side by side on the next straight. Johnson took the high side, while Ross lost the front wheel on the inside. Johnson went on to win, and Petruzzelli got second. Ross recovered for third. Thundercross Motorsports Complex Okeechobee.
