though, Page gave up. and, because he was
the lone Pro, he just rode his own race. Up
front, Ard was putting on a good show: with
no challengers, he had a nice cushion. The
battle for second, though, was a totally different story, as Laudermilk was allover Bloom.
trying to find a way around him. Laudermilk
eventually went a IittJe too far and slid out
before the triple jump while trying to pass
Bloom, and by the time he got up, it was t00
late for him to even hope to catch Bloom.
When the checkers came out, Ard won with a
hefty lead, followed by Bloom and Laudermilk.
Finishing out the race in fourth was Dustin
Lafave, and winning the Pro portion was. of
course, Page.
The lone 250cc Pro rider, Don Boesplug,
absconded with the holeshot in the combined
250cc Pro/Intermediate main, but Joshua
Johnson used one of his patented outside-toinside maneuvers to go from last to first in a
split second. Boesplug went after Johnson but
still had to hold off Laudermilk. On the second
lap, Johnson had a small lead and Boesplug
was still trying to hold off Laudermilk, when
they came to the huge south-side triple. Laudermilk officially proved his seriousness by
clearing the triple - the only rider all day to
clear it cleanly. Johnson was the first to try it
in practice, but he always came up short, so
he quit trying; likewise, Page also attempted it
but came up painfully short. Even though Laudermilk was doing the triple, he had to rail the
way-outside berm to do it, and he wasn't gaining much time at all. Laudermilk pressured
Boesplug until the two came out of the
whoops close together and BoespJug went a
little too slow through the corner and fell on
Laudennilk on the inside. With Laudermilk out
of the way, Team Moto Outfitters/MSR/Scott
rider Johnson put it on "cruise" mode and finished out the race with an easy first place.
Laudermilk finished second in the Intermediate class. Despite a rather unlucky (or just
flat-out bad) day, at least Boesplug could say
he won the 250cc Pro class.
